Walking down a side road while avoiding my apartment building I stumbled upon a strange group of people throwing one hell of a Halloween party. Friendly banter got me invited in, they didn't care that I had no costume on, they just all laughed and said best human costume ever. Their costumes were top notch, I still can't figure out how some of them managed to look that much like the real thing, as if I knew what the real thing was.

It was one wild Halloween party that ended with a dare. The group of werewolves dared the Vampires to eat tofu and that started the whole game that drove me to those business doors and filling out that form. I had gone to the party simply to not spend the night alone at my apartment forced to follow the well laid plans of a building Karen. She even had a list that told everyone exactly which child she believed deserved the good candy and which deserved crap. All based on costume cost and her opinion, not on anything that actually might make sense.

When I got home I was immediately confronted by the apartment building's resident Karen. "How dare you, there were kids waiting for their candy." She thrust her fists onto her hips and scowled.

"You do realize that the more you look like that the more you wrinkle..." I looked at her face closer "that explains a lot."

"How dare you!" She was aghast, I didn't care

"Look lady, if I want a older woman to boss me around and remind me how much of a disappointment I was I would be living with my parents." I pushed past her and headed for my apartment.

"I demand you hand over the candy you were told to get so that I can take it around to the kids with your apology" she was following me like an unwanted S.T.D.

"Never bought any, I have better things to do than play into your insanity." At this point I was grateful I lived on the second floor and only had to go up the stairs to the left of the elevator and around a short corner.

"I beg your pardon!" Her voice was proving that it was actually possible for it to be more shrill and annoying than usual. "I gave you the exact count of EVERYTHING you were to purchase down to who got full sized candy bars and toys and who got just toys and who got just a fun sized bar or two thrown at them."

I whipped around and frowned down at the short psycho "LOOK! I have no intention of EV-ER following your judgement bitchy orders." I pointed back to the stairs "that is where the exit is, I suggest you find your way there quickly before you stumble out a window down the hall and realize the world doesn't revolve around you, you're not some kind of God and you can't fly."

I reached for my door and saw a cute little long haired gray tabby kitten sitting on the doormat batting its eyes at me innocently. "A cat! No," she huffed angrily "no cats in the building."

"The owner of the building has seven cats and allows the neighborhood strays to come in when it's nasty out, because of them we have no rodents or bugs..." I turned and looked at the Karen then turned back to the kitten "you missed one" I gestured at the Karen and to my glee the kitten took the pounce position and glared at her snarling.

The Karen shrieked and lunged backwards "you stay away from me!"

The kitten hissed at her revealing that it too refused to do as she ordered. "I think you'd better run Karen..."

She wanted to yell at me but when the kitten hissed and growled she chose to do as I suggested and run. The adorable kitten chased her for a few feet then came trotting back to me with pride. "Okay, you've earned it..." I opened the door for the newest member of my circle and newest resident of my apartment "go ahead, my place is your place."
