Starting in Season 2 ep. 5
Human TrialsIt had been about a week since the sky people have been here. I wanted to go looking for where they landed, but Lexa said I couldn't, and since she's the Commander I have to listen to her.
*a few months after the sky people arrived*
It was so far a very boring, normal day. I had been walking around Tondc, going to different food vendors, clothing shops, etc.
I started to help this old lady from my village, her name was Carla. She was a very kindhearted, sweet lady. It was around a 45-minutes walk so I decided to make it easier on her locked-up joints and carry her things. She got tired around 10-minutes in so we took a little break.
We talked about her grandchildren and her daughters. They stayed in a different village but were visiting for Carla's 73rd birthday. The whole village was getting ready for it. I loved when there was a birthday because everyone would get together and make unforgettable memories.
We kept talking and we were now almost there. I heard an ear-splitting noise rippling through the wind. It was something unfamiliar to me, something I have never heard. And it was in the direction of my village. I dropped the lady's things and told her to stay put. This was a foreign sound to the both of us and I didn't want her to get hurt. I ran as fast as I could, to make sure my people were safe.
More of the loud bangs kept echoing through the trees. Cries and screams for help were pounding loud in my ears.
I was worried for my people.
The closer I got the more rage built up. I had a feeling it was reapers, oh how I loathed those filthy disgusting monsters.
I got to my village in less than 2 minutes at my full running speed and was outraged by what I saw. The sky people were there. I had heard of them before but had never seen them. I looked at my people, grouped in what looks like an animal pen.
One. Two. Three. I counted the dead bodies on the ground, one of them was my pupil. He was only 15 when he took his last breath. Only 15 when his eyes lost all of their life.
I wanted to scream and cry for the dead, but I couldn't. Not here, not ever. I was shaking with anger. Who would do something so awful as to kill children? What did they do to deserve this?
I looked around until I heard the rippling sound once again. I looked to my right and saw a sky person holding something bulky and black in his hands. It looked so different from the weapons I have used and seen before. The weird gadget was pointed at my grouped-up people. The look in their eyes held so much fear.
These were my people and a threat to my people was a threat to me.
I looked up at the group of sky people that hadn't noticed me yet and saw the boy in the front shoot at a girl who started running. She dropped down to the muddy ground, dead. My people looked up and saw me. I was able to signal them to not move until I solved the problem.
All the people looking in my direction brought the sky people's eyes towards me. The guy with the gun started shooting at me, so I had to run to evade the shots. I got to a smaller building and felt a stinging feeling in my waist area. I lift my shirt and saw just a slight graze from the machine he was using.
It wouldn't cause any serious damage, but god damn that hurt like bitch. I quickly grabbed my knives once I heard the boy stop firing. I looked around the building and threw one of my knives 3/4 of an inch above his head. My knife so sharp it slices a few strands of his hair off.
He looked shocked and one of the taller sky people started to run at me. I ducked and kicked his legs from behind so he fell to the ground. I put my knee down on his throat and started to put pressure to choke him. One of the tinier ones that had a hooked nose had ran at me with a thick stick. I grabbed my sword from its spot on my hip in time to cut it in half. He looked frightened and started to walk back to the one who had killed my people.
The person under my knee was still gasping for air. I got up from him and started to walk to the one with the gun.
"What is your purpose here?" I asked on the verge of tears. I couldn't cry, not in front of my people. They would think I'm weak. And not fit to rule over them.
The sky people looked at me and then back at the child that was on the ground. I looked at the child on the ground and a single tear fell down my face. I had wiped it away as soon as it fell.
The sky person holding the gun ran over to the child and looked at him. He walked to kneel towards him and tried to pick him up. I ran over to him and shoved him to the ground.
The one with a hooked nose grabbed one of the machines and pointed it towards me. I pulled my knife to the killers throat having a staring contest with the one pointing the thing at me, threatening him with my glare.
He puts the thing down and I look back at the killer.
"You do not get to touch him. Not after all the damage, you have caused. The families you have broken. Not after everything you have done. You have no right. He was only 15, you animals. Why. Why did you do this, he didn't deserve this. He was a good kid, he never did anything wrong!"
They all looked at me with confused expressions, probably not understanding a single word I said.
I picked up the child and informed one of the village's guards to lock up the sky people. They started to yell at me in protest, but I decided to block their voices out.
I set the boy down and unlocked the pig pen, I watched as a mother and father ran up to my trainee, balling their eyes out. I looked around to see all the destruction in the village. I counted 18 dead. 18 of my people gone, just like that. If I was here I could've protected them, I wouldn't have let this happen. It's all my fault, what have I done?
I sent a messenger to Tondc to talk about this with Lexa while I clean this place up.
I had started to head back to the old lady when I saw her laying on the ground with reapers surrounding her. She was screaming and then her screams stopped. 'No, no, no. Why? Why? I couldn't save them and now I couldn't save an old lady. What is happening?'
I was so shocked, my body wouldn't let me run up and attack them. I felt so shaken up from everything in the last hour that my brain couldn't take control of my own limbs.
The reapers looked back at me and started to run at me. I snapped out of my daze and got my sword ready. I realized that I had left it at the camp. I thought to myself 'Great, now I have to use my knives.'
I got two of my knives out, one in each hand. Setting my feelings aside I focused in on the reapers. Flipping my knives around in my palms, I got ready to throw them at my new targets.
The reapers were running closer to me and yelling with their ear-splitting voices. They got closer and in my range of firing, one down, two down, three down, four. All of their bodies hit the ground with loud thumps. After killing most of the reapers, my heart was pounding so hard, I thought it would burst out of my chest.
I quickly ran at the others with all the strength I had and sliced one of their necks open, the others were a little more tricky. They were hungry and were planning to do whatever it took to beat me. One snuck up behind me and grabbed onto my wrist, bruising them in the process. The other came at me with a club like weapon with spikes at the end.
I jump at the right time so that my feet and his face collided at the same time, efficiently knocking him out. I knocked my head back and hit the last reapers nose, most likely breaking it in the process. He let go of my hands, so I grabbed my remaining knife and slit his throat.
A/N- I hope you liked the first chapter of The Commander's Sister! The next chapter will be up sometimes in the next two weeks as I do have school and sports.
