Movies show you that when you wake up its all at once and super quick, and maybe thats how it works for some people but not for me. First I slowly began to regain consciousness. Then, I opened my eyes groaning as I quickly shut them again, the bright hospital lights causing my eyes agony. Finally a voice registered.
"You shouldn't be here." Said a voice I recognize anywhere.
"Lex, you can all come in." I whispered unable to raise my voice any louder because my throat felt like it was scratched raw. Brooke and Alexis both run into the room wearing matching looks of concern and gratefulness. Brooke starts talking a mile a minute about how she was so scared, telling me about everything the doctors said while i was unconscious. even though I should be listening, the look on Alexis' face keeps drawing my attention, something is wrong so I lift my arm weakly and motion for her to come closer. When she does I ask "What happened outside, who's there, I heard shouting."Lex sighs " I didn't want to worry you but Noah and his friends are outside"
"let them in."
"what?" lex and Brooke ask in unison
"Let them in I want to know why he's here" I say. they walk off slightly confused and return to my room a few minutes later with three guilty looking boys. Max is the first to break the silence. " we're so so sorry, we didn't mean for anyone to get hurt we were just messing around, we didn't even see you." Lucas jumps in to add
"we were talking before we were allowed into the room that me and Max are going to be your personal servants until you get better." they stand there with their arms crossed over their puffed out chests with guilt practically flooding their eyes. I laugh and nod in agreement because who wouldn't want two hot guys at their bidding. My eyes float over to Noah standing in the corner with a look in his eyes that look mysteriously close to concern. I stop my thought in it's tracks, there's no way he's concerned about me he hasn't asked how I am feeling, everyone knows to ask that even if you don't care. I quickly shake my head to get rid of these thoughts and bring myself back into the real world where Lex and Brooke are talking to the doctor about when I can leave, Noah is still staring at me, and Max and Lucas are arguing over who is going to be the better servant to me, their words not mine. I have to laugh because not only are they idiots but this is something I've wanted since I started reading romance novels, golden retriever protective people who care about me. I get the feeling we're all going to be very close. the rooms mood seems to shift completely as my eyes drift back to Noah, it's like even if I look away he's sucking the fun from the room the look on his face has stayed the same the whole time rage starts bubbling up my spine until I can't hold it back any longer.
"Are you going to keep staring at me while saying nothing because if you are, just take a picture and leave, I don't even really want you here."
Noah angrily turns around and leaves while the boys quickly say bye and follow him out. Brooke and Lex look at each other with a sympathetic glance and I get a sense of deja vu from when i first woke. I look away from them because I can't bear to see the pain behind it. My eyes land on a piece of paper on it written.
"your knights in shining armor Sir Maxwell Corbin and Sir Lucas Baker" and below each of their names were their numbers. the simple act of ridiculousness made this entire day so much more enjoyable. I smile down at the note and tuck it under my covers before Brooke and Lex see.
