The howling wind grew loud as a small bird flew across the sky slowly descending towards the mountain landing carefully on a small cherry blossom tree. The tree bore pale white flowers that had yet to bud signaling the upcoming spring, the bird hopped back and forth letting out small tweets as it looked around for company, but the only thing there was the silent monastery. Suddenly an old man appeared hoping from over the edge of the mountain he settled himself on a rock in front of the monastery soon afterwards Ezra followed after him easily climbing over the edge and slumping down next to him to catch their breath before standing back up, Kai followed behind them much slower and breathing much heavier.

"How long is this training goanna be??" Kai said between pants slowly dragging himself over the edge onto safe and stable ground. Ezra scoffed rolling their eyes as they walked to the monastery doors smiling softly as they looked over them the red paint and gold handles on the front where slightly worn with age, but they guessed that all it needed was a good scrub and new coat of paint to look brand new.

"Aren't we in a little bit of a rush since they have the map??" Kai continued ignoring Ezra's actions while he looked at his new Sensei who told him to call him 'Wu'. Wu stood smiling softly as he stroked his beard "Patience." Is all he said before walking to his child and nodding at them. Ezra nodded and put their hands on the doors pushing them open as Kai walked over standing next to Wu.

Ezra scoffed "No, not fight, flame brain. Train." They replied rolling their eyes. Wu smiled softly "To become a true ninja first you must be able to see what others do not." He said as Ezra walked towards a small pole with a golden dragon statue on it. "But there's nothing here!" Kai argued Wu gave a side glance to Ezra who rolled their eyes and carefully flipped the dragon statue backwards a latch appearing from its stomach showing a red button which they pressed.

The ground suddenly shook lightly as the middle of the courtyard where a giant dragon statue stood slowly transformed into a training course. The dragon statue lifted slowly, other small circular structures popping out of the ground. Wooden beams rose from the ground making a path for one to follow like an obstacle course. Kai's eyes widened as he stared at the obstacle course, excitement bubbling up as he turned to Wu, "Is this where your goanna teach me to do that cool move??!?" he asked running over and hopping on one of the wooden beams while imitating a horrible crane pose. Ezra frowned as they walked over to stand next to their father giving him a side glance as if asking 'Are we seriously doing this??' Wu smiled at his child then turned to Kai who was still on the wooden beam which was slowly sinking into the ground suddenly he was shoot upwards into the air Ezra rolled their eyes as they watched, careful to move out of the way as the teen fell on the ground next to them. Wu sat on the wooden deck a small blue teapot and matching teacup next to him.

"Complete the course before I finish my tea. Then we will see if you are ready." He said. Ezra sighed remembering the times they had to do this and looked at Kai who was still on the ground confused. Wu set a napkin one his lap along with the teacup and poured his tea quickly sipping on the tea until there was nothing left, he put the cup down and said "Today you failed." He stood and flipped backwards through the doorway "Tomorrow you will try again." He finished.
Kai quickly got to protest the decision "Failed??!? But I didn't even start to-" he was interrupted when the sliding doors shut in his face he started at the doors bewildered. Ezra sighed and walked to him "Now you listen here I don't like having you here, but I won't go against my father's decision so if you want to get out there sooner do as I say." They said in an authoritative voice. Kai looked at them frowning slightly before slowly nodding "fine whatever. Let's just get this over with." He muttered
