The Line Between Good And Evil

:KING OF THE SHADOWS PART 1:

The cold wind sent shivers down Ezra's spine as they looked around the frozen ocean. The ship they were on rocked back and fourth gently as it carefully avoided the icebergs surrounding them. They breathed into the palm of their hand breath creating steam as they did so they shivered again as the wind howled harshly grabbing the blanket wrapped around them and pulling it closer as they attempted to gain warmth. They looked up as a bored voice said, "I spy something... white."

It was Jay. He currently was leaning against the railing while looking at Cole who was steering the ship. Cole sighed and muttered "Could you try to be quiet for once? This ain't easy." Suddenly the boat shook violently Cole immediately grabbed the wheel with both hands steadying it out. Jay groaned and said, "I spy something broken." Ezra rolled their eyes then sneezed covering their mouth with their arm as they did so. Kai and Zane where standing on the deck looking out over the ocean, Zane turned to Ezra when they sneezed and walked over asking them if they were okay to which they nodded silently. Kai huffed and turned to look at Sensei Wu saying through his shivers "If Sensei knows the way to the next golden weapon, why isn't he steering the ship??" he asked gesturing to the old man who was mediating atop the dragon head carving at the end of the ship. "We've been drifting aimlessly for miles!" Kai whines slightly. Zane turns to Kai after checking on Ezra and says, "Sensei's wisdom is beyond my own." Kai huffs frowning as he looks over the water silently.

Wu suddenly turns eyes closed and says, "The most powerful move in Spinjitsu can only be accomplished when all four elements are combined." Zane and Kai look at each other confused as Ezra frowns looking away. Wu then hops onto the deck imitating different poses as he says

"Earth!"

"Ice!"

"Fire!"

"Lightning!"

Jay walks down to the deck leaning against the railing as he speaks up "Uh what happens when all of the elements are combined? And what about Ezra?? We haven't even seen their power yet!" Ezra glares at him "Why haven't I seen yours?" They retort. Jay's already pink face went red as he rubbed the back of his head nervously. Wu cuts in saying "The tornado of creation. The power to create something out of nothing." He finishes as he waves his hands a teacup appearing in them as he walks off. Kai watches before spinning and jumping imitating the poses he did excitedly unfortunately getting them wrong. Ezra cringed slightly as Wu turned saying "No Kai. If done it will lead to disastrous consequences." Kai just scoffed and continued "Disastrous consequences. Right."

"LOOK OUT!-" Ezra yelled suddenly

The ship suddenly came to a stop as the ninja where thrown forward. Kai grunted as he hit the ground slowly sitting up. Cole peeked out from behind the steering wheel sheepishly saying "Uh- wasn't me?" Kai looked at his hands and asked, "Did I do that?" Ezra scoffed and stood keeping the blanket wrapped around them "No Flame Brains." They muttered as Wu turned "We are here." He finished his child's sentence. The four ninja slowly went to the edge looking over the frozen wasteland. Ezra sniffled shivering as they looked around the ground seemed to be just ice. A torii made of ice stood Infront of them a path under it leading to a giant ice temple.

The five walked the path to the temple. Every time they passed under another Torii Ezra muttered a small prayer to themself, Zane noticed this and slowed to approach them "May I ask why your doing that?" he asked after minute. Ezra looked at him surprised before nodding and explained "These structures are called Torii usually they are in Shinto shrines they represent the transition from mundane to sacred my father always told me to be respectful of the spirits that inhabit different areas, so I've gotten used to muttering small prayers when passed a sacred place." Zane slowly nodded understanding. "Can you teach me?" he asked. Ezra blinked surprised before smiling slightly "There's really nothing to teach I mean all I do is ask for the spirit to allow me to pass and give thanks..." Zane nods "Like this?" he asks while muttering a small prayer bowing his head slightly. "Yeah, just try not to use titles or names." They said, "We don't know who inhabits this place, so I just say, 'Spirit that resides here please allow safe passage and future fortune thank you' or something similar to that." Zane nodded thoughtfully and redid the prayer. Ezra smiled nodding "Yeah that's perfect!" they complimented. Zane smiled happily opening his mouth to say something but was interrupted by Cole who said "Woah... looks like someone's already been here..." the two looked up noticing the group farther ahead and hurried to catch up passing frozen statues that contained skeletons who were to slow to get away from whatever was here. The group finally made it to the holding room of the shuriken's which was much different the scythes room pure ice walls along with ice steps leading up to the shuriken's which where floating in the air above them was a dragon its body was fully blue and its eyes glowed gold.
Zane slowly approached the stairs Ezra watched silently frowning worriedly. Zane jumped up grabbing the shuriken's and smiled before suddenly the ground shook the dragon coming alive and quickly freezing Zane in a block of ice. Ezra's eyes widened and quickly them and the others ran over grabbing the ice block and carrying it out they ran through the entrance which was too small for the giant dragon Ezra looked back before yelping as they were grabbed the three boys had gotten on the ice block and used it as a sled to get down the hill faster. Kai had grabbed them and dragged them onto the ice block making sure they were steady. They thanked him and he nodded in response. They slid down the mountain before one of the Torii's came into view, Ezra's eyes widened as they shrieked "Turn, turn, TURN!!!" but it was too late the ground ran into the structure and fell, luckily the Torii was stronger than it seemed as it simply took the hit barely budging. The three groaned as they fell over Wu watching silently as the ice block broke slowly and Zane popped out perfectly fine.
Wu gathered his students as Jay pointed to the nun chuck symbol on the map "Let's go!!" he said excitedly, the others simply sighed. Getting the nun chunks of lightning was rather easy. Jay had given each of them a backpack carrying one of his inventions which he said was slightly inspired by the dragon's wings to which Cole and Ezra immediately wanted nothing to do with them but eventually the three convinced the two it would be fine.
