A phone ringing catches Oliver's attention. Problem was it wasn't his or the house phone. He searched everywhere before finding Nyssa's phone. His heart broke the second he saw the name on caller ID. Everyone had been so destroyed with her death, they had forgotten to tell Laurel.
"Who's phone's ringing? It's not mine or Felicity's." Sara asked, appearing in the room then she saw the phone in Oliver's hand. "Oh. Who is it?"
Oliver looked up at her with a pained expression. "Laurel, she's calling Nyssa's phone." He breathed out.
"I forgot to tell her." Sara said.
"What do I do? They were best friends." Oliver whispered, the phone stopped ringing only to start up again.
"When the phone stops ringing, I'll text her and ask her to call me." Sara said.
Nodding his head, Oliver took a deep breath and stared at the phone.
It stopped ringing and Sara quickly sent a text to Laurel.
Sara- We need to talk, it's about Nyssa. Meet me at the coffee shop we always go to.
Laurel- What's wrong? Why won't she answer her phone?
Sara- I'll explain in person, meet me at our usual spot.
Laurel- Sara, you're scaring me.
Sara- Laurel, just meet me at the coffee shop. I'll explain everything.
Sara put her phone away and took a deep breath. "I'm going to take a shower and then go meet up with her. Will you be okay?" She asked, seeing Oliver's expression as he looked through the pictures on Nyssa's phone.
Oliver looked up at Sara. "Felicity is here, yes. I'll be okay." He could hear his wife's voice from the living room as she read a story to Alice.
"Text me if you need anything." Sara said, kissing his cheek and leaving the room.
Oliver sighed softly and looked back down at the phone. It was a picture of him and Nyssa, the night they first slept together. The night she became pregnant with Hayden. His heart ached for her. He missed her more than he could express in words.
~Flashback~
"Are you sure your wife won't get mad?" Nyssa asked Oliver as they entered her apartment. "I mean usually we stay at the office."
"She's at work. She won't know." Oliver said.
Nyssa rolled her eyes and led him into the kitchen so they could continue working on the case. "She already hates me enough as it is Oliver."
"She doesn't hate you. She's building herself up to tolerate you. She knows you're my partner and you're not going anywhere anytime soon." Oliver said. "She doesn't groan or make faces any time I say your name now, which is a good sign."
Nodding her head, Nyssa opened the fridge and grabbed them both a beer.
"Thanks." Oliver said.
Nyssa offered him a smile before moving to take off her jacket.
Oliver sipped his beer.
Moving to sit down, Nyssa takes a drink of her beer. "Hmm, where were we?" she asks, opening the case file.
Oliver sat down too.
The brunette reads over the file again briefly before looking up at him. "It's the husband." She says without a second thought.
"Really?" Oliver asked.
