A/N: Hey Everyone! Another 2021 Whumptober update in 2022! And yes this will probably not be the last Whumptober 2021 update I do! I hope you enjoy! Prompt: pneumothorax | exotic illness | "Definitely just a cold"Summary: Midoriya wakes up with something that is definitely not just a cold.
Midoriya had woken up with a slight cough and a sore throat but didn't think too much of it and continued on to school. Throughout the day he started feeling worse but chose to continue ignoring it. A few of his classmates had noticed that something was wrong with him and kept sending him looks. Iida had even asked him if he needed to go back to the dorms when he had noticed Midoriya wasn't eating anything during lunch. While Midoriya knew the other boy was being a kind and caring friend, he still responded with a firm and maybe slightly too harsh no; before plopping his head on the table.
By the end of the day he was practically dragging his body back to the dorms. When he had finally managed to pull himself inside the dorms he found himself too ill to eat and made his way up to his room.
As soon as he made it to his bed he collapsed on top of it. He didn't bother changing out of his school uniform- in fact he didn't even have the energy to remove his shoes. He knew he should remove them, especially since they still had a thin layer of mud coating them that would surely mess up his bed but he just couldn't.
The room was silent and dark, soothing the headache that seemed to have grow throughout the day. He blinked his eyes slowly a couple of times before sealing them shut. In less than a minute he fell into an almost peaceful sleep.
---------------------------------------------
"Kid...."
Midoriya was pretty sure he had heard someone talking but it seemed kind of fuzzy.
"Stay with us"
In fact as he focused he seemed to hear some kind of siren in the back of his head. He tried to sit up only to realize somebody was stopping him from doing so.
"Kid,.. -op!"
He let out a small whine as pain shot through his entire body. He cracked opened his eyes only to be met with blurry vision. He tried to look around but found his head unable to do so. The only thing he could make out was what appeared to be the ceiling and a shirt attached to a body of whom he assumed was the person trying to speak to him.
The person that was seemingly holding him down shifted to where he could see their face. Even though his vision was still messed up he was able to tell who it was.
"S-n-si..." He tried to speak but found himself surprised by the way his voice kept cutting off.
Aizawa-sensei appeared to be holding him in his arms. The man shifted slightly before speaking, "Hey, kid. Calm down. It's gonna be alright. The ambulance is almost here. I need you to stay awake for me, okay?"
The man seemed to not only be trying to reassure Midoriya but also himself. All Midoriya managed to get out was a small hum before his throat closed again.
The man shifted him slightly again which allowed Midoriya to get a view of his surroundings. He appeared to still be in the dorms judging from the familiar couches. Though on the couches appeared to be multiple people huddled together- who he just now realized were probably his classmates.
His whole body was practically numb with pain causing him to be paralyzed in place- forced to wait for help to arrive. He wasn't even sure why he was in his current state. As far as he had known he had been getting slightly sick throughout the day and then went up to his bed and slept. Now according to his Sensei he was about to be brought to the hospital.
He needed answers about what was happening but found that he no longer had the control to speak. No matter how desperately he tried he couldn't speak. In fact it wasn't just his mouth that had sealed shut; he had lost function of his entire body. He was only able to sit there with his blurry vision and foggy hearing. It was like someone had froze him in place and he was banished to be a statue for eternity.
After what felt like a life time he heard people- the nurses- run into the dorms. He was being shifted, his gaze now being forced upon the ceiling. His teacher and the newly acquainted strangers hovered over him as they seemingly moved him onto a stretcher of some kind.
Then before he could think it over he was being raised into the air and rushed out of the dorms. Within seconds of his eyes meeting the sky he was thrusted into an ambulance. The ambulance was quick to close it's doors and even quicker to rush off.
Down at his arm he felt a sharp but quick pain along with heavy pressure, that was quick to blend in with the rest of the pain in his aching body. He felt people moving around and doing things but he couldn't quite tell what. He shifted his eyes to the left side before checking the right. On the upper right side of his vision he saw who he was looking for. Aizawa-Sensei seemed like he was going to stay with him during the ride.
He felt something start to cover his mouth and freaked out for a second before Aizawa reassured him that he needed to let the nurses to their jobs. The object slid over his face and let him breathe a little easier than before.
Before he could think about what was happening anymore he found the world around him start to fade.
The last thing he heard before everything fully disappeared was Aizawa telling him everything was going to be fine.
