" It's happened to all of us kid"

Carl was alive.
Hershel managed to save his life, and he was going to be ok. Just like his parents, Cameron hasn't left his side since this morning. After the entire world basically collapsed Cameron quickly learned how dangerous it was to have hope, for anything. But she had hope for Carl, he needs to live, and she'd do anything to keep him alive.
"Carl?"
Cameron looked over at the boy just as he opened his eyes. A curious expression appeared on his face as he looked around the room. He was still disoriented and having all these people standing around looking at him didn't help. Carl's eyes landed on his dad, finding comfort in finding Rick there.
"Sophia? Is she okay?" Carl asked, beginning to get worried. Cameron looked over at Rick, but didn't even try to answer the question.
"Fine. She's fine," Rick answered without hesitation.
"Just rest honey," Lori told him, her voice soft and calming. The way a mother's voice should be. "We'll be right here, okay?"
"Okay," Carl nodded and his eyes closed again.
Rick sat back down, still weak from all the blood he had given the day before. Lori put her hand over his, comforting him. Cameron let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding, she was grateful Carl was still alive. She couldn't think about much else.
T-Dog walked into the room, putting his hand against the doorframe as he said, "They're here."
They all stood up, going over to the door just as a motorcycle, an SUV, and a van pulled in front of Hershel's house. Everyone else had been outside, preparing for Otis' funeral. The entire Greene family watched as more strangers came onto their property.
"How is he?" Dale asked them.
Lori smiled, "He'll pull through. Thanks to Hershel and his people-"
"-And Shane," Rick added, looking over at his best friend. "We'd have lost Carl if not for him."
Everyone turned their heads looking over at Shane. He was wearing a baggy shirt and overalls, ones that used to belong to Otis. He also shaved his head, some impulsive decision he'd made during his shower. Cameron wasn't sure about it, not that she'd ever tell him that. He'd probably say it was stupid for caring about appearances when a walker could kill you at any moment.
