boy meets girl. it's a tale as old as time, but it's just not that simple anymore. maybe if things were different we would've worked. we could've had our happily ever after.
if I knew how it ended maybe I could have stopped you. I should've been the...

"You can't help them if you can't even protect yourself,"

Carol's sobs were haunting. Nathan knew he'd probably never heard pain like that before. Carol was running out of breath but couldn't get herself to let in air. Her daughter is dead, no pain could compare to that.
Daryl was the one to help her to her feet. "Don't look," He said to her but Carol had already seen it. "Don't look."
Once they were standing Carol pushed Daryl off of her. T-Dog tried to step in to comfort her but she moved away from him too. She ran away from the group and towards the RV. There wasn't anything anyone could say that could possibly make her feel better.
Nathan turned his head in Cameron's direction. He watched as she quickly wiped a tear from under her eye, like she didn't want anyone to see her cry. Nathan realized Cameron couldn't look at Sophia's body, she had turned herself away.
Beth was crying too. Jimmy was holding onto her but the whole thing was too much for her. Both Nathan and Beth hadn't been exposed to the realities of this new world. While Nathan was able to learn more from the survivors, Beth still believed that one day her stepmom would come out of that barn and be healthy again.
Nathan hated seeing his little sister like this. No brother wanted to see his sibling hurting, especially like this. He wished there was something he could do, but no matter what he said or did their mom and brother would still be dead.
Beth pushed herself away from Jimmy and started walking towards the walkers. Nathan held his arm out to stop her but she pushed him away. "Beth..."
"Wait, wait, wait," Rick tried to stop her too but she moved past him.
They all watched as she went straight to her mom. She pushed the body of another walker away and looked down at the woman who raised her. "Ma..."
As soon as Beth touched her the walker started growling. She grabbed at Beth trying to pull her in. Everyone swarmed to get the walker off of her. Rick and Shane grabbed Beth under each arm while Glenn and Cameron grabbed the walker.
Nathan felt sick again. Watching his step mother's decaying arms reaching out for his sister. He never imagined life would turn out like this. He could hardly bear it.
"Pull her away!"
Andrea quickly grabbed onto a corn sythe. Everyone moved out of harm's way as she swung it right into the walker's head. Now it was really dead. After her screaming stopped Beth cried again, her mother had tried to kill her. And she hadn't been taught that the woman in front of her was no longer her mother.
