She was still standing away from the group, watching as her father and Otis got ready to go get the supplies. Nate couldn't read her expression, scared, mad, whatever it was he knew she wasn't happy. Otis and Shane were about ready to leave and she knew it, with every passing second the weight on her chest felt heavier.

Rick and Shane walked out of the house together, Hershel and Nate were close behind them. Patricia walked past them going right over to Otis, giving him a hug.

The Greene family lost a few people when everything started. Nate lost his step brother, his step mother, his best friend. They weren't human anymore. But he had his sisters, and he had his dad. He wouldn't trade for anything. They were all he had left.

As for Cameron, all she had was Shane. He was the only family she had left.

"Just get what you need and get out of there," Rick said to Shane as the two of them walked over to the truck. Shane nodded but his eyes were on his daughter who stood by a nearby tree.

Nate was sure that Cameron was just going to stand by that tree and watch her dad leave. She barely moved when he walked out and Shane made no moves to walk over to her. But Nate also didn't know what the world was like outside the gates of his farm. He didn't know that no matter how bad the fight was you always say goodbye to the ones you love.

Cameron walked over to her dad, immediately embracing him in a hug. They held each other close, like they were worried it'd be the last time they saw each other. What the Greene family didn't know was that the father and daughter had said their goodbyes many times, but somehow they always found each other again.

"Be good. Listen to Rick," Shane said to his daughter and she nodded her head against his chest.

Cameron looked up at her dad, quietly saying, "I still need you. You can't die out there."

"I won't. I'll be right back," Shane smiled at her but they both knew he couldn't promise that. None of their safety was guaranteed anymore. They didn't have that luxury.

"Do whatever you have to do," Cameron told him and Shane nodded. If only Cameron realized how literally her father would take that. She stepped away from him, watching as he got into the passenger side of the truck.

Cameron watched as the truck left the property. Her head shaking, wishing she had been able to go with her dad. She wasn't weak anymore, despite what her dad thought, she knew how to protect herself and the people she cared about. This world has tried to hurt her over and over again but each time she'd come out stronger.

"Come on, let's check on your boy," Hershel said to Rick, who nodded his head.

Hershel started to the house, expecting Rick to follow him but he didn't. Instead the Grimes man turned his head, looking over at his best friend's daughter.
