CHECK UP
I'm dealing with a client online, when the bell chimes at the door.
I look over my laptop to check who entered the shop.
"Hey"
"Oh, hi ma! What brought you here?"
I stood up from my seat and greeted her with a hug and kiss.
"Why? Can't I just visit you?"
"You know that's not what I mean"
She took a glance at me and one of her loving smiles worked its way onto her face.
"Just checking up on you Val, how's your day by the way?"
I offered her a chair for some comfort and head straight to my fridge to get her some drink.
"Thank you"
She mumbles receiving the drink.
"I'm doing good ma, everything's fine so far, I'm actually dealing with a client when you showed up"
"Oh, well that's great then!"
"It is ma"
I know she's trying to divert her attention with me and with her visiting here, but we can't avoid talking about dad, eventually we will need to acknowledge that.
"The real question here ma is you, how have you been? I'm sorry I haven't visited since, but you know I'm trying as well to busy myself with works and with everything."
"That's okay, I'm okay you know that"
A tight smile ghosts over her lips to which I responded with a nod.
"How about Vlander? Is he doing well?"
"His ass is buried deep with school works"
"That's good to hear then, maybe I'll visit the next day to bond with him, it's been like forever since I had a time with him"
"Yeah you should, it'll take him some break with school, he needs that"
I tucked her hair behind her ear when it fell to her eyes.
"You need to rest too ma, I know how important work is for you, but rest okay? We need you, you know that"
"I know, I will"
"So saan ka pupunta after dito?"
"Home, pauwi na rin talaga ako nang maisip kong bisitahin ka"
"Hatid na lang din siguro kita ma"
I hook my keys under my desk and get ready.
"You sure? Baka nakaabala pa ako"
"You know you're not, and you will never be a bother to me, you and Vlander"
She embraced me which caught me off a bit, but then answer her hug back.
"I love you ma"
