I fly onto the top of a building across from the bank. I just have a feeling somethings going to happen here.
After about twenty minutes of standing there on the lookout I hear a woman's scream. I make sure my hood is up. I fly down and see a man trying to take the woman's purse.
"Stop!" I yell. He rips it out of her hand a runs with it. I sprint after him. He sprints faster than me. I levitate off the ground and continue after him. I grab him by the sweatshirt and pull him backwards. He falls to the ground and I stop levitating.
"D-Don't hurt me, man,"he pleads. I snatch the bag from his hands.
"I'm not going to hurt you," I say. The woman walks over to us. I hand her her purse.
"Thank you!" she exclaims. I nod in response. The man gets up and tries to run away. I grab his shirt and he falls to the ground again. I put a force field around him so he can't get away.
"So you're the infamous Shadow," she giggles.
"I believe I am," I say flirtatiously. She smiles.
"So, on the new that woman was right, you do actually have super powers," she says in awe looking at the force field. I nod. She goes to touch it. I swiftly stand in between her and the force field. She touches my chest instead.
"I'd advise you not to do that ma'am," I say. She blushes from embarrassment. and removes her hand from my chest.
"Sorry," she apologizes. "It just looks so cool."
"Yeah," I agree. "That force field is meant for no one to get out," I say. I hold up my hand and conjure a small force field that won't hurt her. I hold it out to her.
"Is it safe?" she asks. I nod. She touches the force field in awe. "It feels like water, but it's solid, not like ice though," she say. She pulls her small hand away from the field and I close my hand to get rid of it. She moves a piece of blond hair out of her face and looks up at me with big sea green eyes.
"You gonna take me to jail or what, lover boy?" the thief asks. I glare at him and turn around. I nod.
"I'll, uh, catch you around?" I ask the girl. She nods.
"The names, Talia, in case you were wondering," she says with a smile.
I nod and smile, even though she can't exactly see it. I remove the force field and grab the thief's arm. I fly up in the air about twenty feet.
"Dude, what the hell?" he asks frantically.
"I'm not going to drop you, if that's what you're wondering," I say.
I bring him to the police station and drop him off, but not without some questions.
"What'd he do?" the sheriff asks.
"Attempted to steal a woman's purse," I say.
"What was the woman's name?" he asks.
"Talia. I didn't get a last name," I say.
"Talia's my daughter. She's the only Talia in this entire city," He says.
"Look, I should be going. Ask Talia what happened. She probably knows better than I," I say and walk out. I fly back to the apartment. I land on the roof. I put my hood down and take off the gloves. I slip them into my sweatshirt pocket. I zip my sweatshirt up all the way so you can't see the grey t-shirt underneath. I walk down the stairs, down the hall and into my apartment. I see a figure sitting on the couch. I get ready to attack.
"Xander," they say.
"Mom?" I ask.
She walks forward and hugs me. "What are you doing here?" I ask. "How did you find me?"
"I knew you'd come to the city. I saw your car parked in the parking garage. I wanted to come see how you were," she says quietly.
"Mom, I'm sorry about what happened between us before I left," I say. She looks puzzled as if she has no idea what I'm talking about.
"Mom, do you even remember that?"I ask concerned. She shakes her head. I look at her confused.
"That was less than a week ago. How could you not remember?" I ask. She looks at me with an evil look in her eye.
"You're not my mom," I say slightly above a whisper.
