Talia, Mya, and I walk down the sidewalk. The cops are taking care of Oryn.
"So she saved us?" Mya asks pointing at Talia with her thumb. I nod and smile.
"Never thought a hero would need saving did you?" Talia asks with a smile.
"Well, I've been saved on multiple occasions by Shadow," Mya explains. She makes sure her hood is still up. We walk into the coffee shop. We get coffee and sit in a booth in the back corner. Talia sits across from Mya and I.
"This has been... Eventful," Mya says. I nod.
"Definately," Mya agrees.
"So are you and Jade dating then?" Talia asks me. I look at Mya. She looks back at Talia.
"No," she answers simply.
"Then why does Shadow care so much about you?" she asks with a smirk.
"Heroes have to watch out for one another," I say. She nods and slightly glares at me. She knows we're lying.
I hold Mya, still dressed as Jade, in my arms as we fly back to the apartment building. We change into our regular clothes. May snuggles up to me on the couch. I smile and sigh. She looks up at me.
"What?" I ask.
"We never finished our conversation earlier," she states.
"Yes we did. We're together as Mya and Xander, but not together as Jade and Shadow," I state. She looks at the tv.
"How did you do that sword thing earlier?" she asks.
"I don't really know," I say. "Wait, how did you know about that?" I ask.
"I was sort of aware of what was going on," she states. I nod.
"You want to practice. You know, at the gym?" I ask. She nods. We grab our weapons and change clothes.
Mya flies at me her fists up, ready to punch me. I dodge it easily.
"Getting rusty, Mya," I joke. Her face turns red and she runs forward again. I smile and fly upward.
"No fair!" she shrieks. She grabs a sword and throws it up, it hits my arm and I come down to the ground. Mya grabs my bow and shoots it at me. I dodge the arrows and fly forward. I make a force field to deflect the arrows. Her face turns red. I smirk.
"Frustrated?" I ask. She glares at me. "I'll take that as a yes?"
She rushes at me and uses my bow to smack me in the face. I land on the ground. She quickly nocks an arrow and points it at me.
"Checkmate," she says.
"Not quite," I reply and create a force field pushing her off me. She gets to her feet and I get up as well. Mya shoots an arrow at me. I put a force field up and try to conjure a sword like I had before. She grabs the one she threw at me earlier. I try to poke her with it. She blocks and smiles at me in a sickeningly sweet way. I push her back, my sword against hers. She falls and looks up at me. I grab the sword and throw it away from her reach. I point the sword at her.
"Checkmate," I say.
"You got lucky," Mya says as we're walking home.
"Uh huh," I say rolling my eyes. A man runs at us. He has a gun pointed. I turn around. More people with different weapons surround us.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"You put Edward Jacobson in jail. Now we have to finish his business and kill both of you," a woman explains. I look at all of them in disbelief. How could so many people be on his side? That's when I see it. Their eyes. They're red. He's controlling them somehow. They move closer to Mya and I. I'm tired from all of our practice fighting. I can only put up small force fields now. They can only cover one person. I put it around Mya.
"Xander, what are you doing?" Mya asks in a worried voice.
"I can only cover one person with my force field," I explain. I fight off a few people that have knives.
"Xander, no," she says. "You can't leave me alone."
"You'll be fine," I say. "Run. The force field will stay with you." I watch Mya run away, tears in her eyes. I fight until I can't anymore.
I lie on the ground looking at the night sky, my vision slightly fading. I feel the gash on my side bleeding. I'll bleed out soon enough. My vision starts to go black.
"Xander!" I hear someone yell. My vision fades completely and I black out.
