We boarded the car and got moving. "We will be heading to headquarters first before we get to the dorms." Miles said. The trip was not particularly long but sitting in there with them felt like hours.

"Get off." Miles said.

Well, rude.

I got off and slammed the door behind me. 'Come on, I'll bring you around." Eloise said, taking me by the hand. Theo followed us while Miles and Liam parked the car. The place was huge and there were many people around.

Many eyes were on us, probably because I'm new. A tall man walked towards us and stopped to talk to them. "Well, who is this little girl?" he said. I frowned at his taunt and he seemed to have noticed.

"Blair Weiss, nice to meet you" I'm so tired of saying that already.

"Ah, you are the newbie I see." he said. "Well, I shall not disturb you anymore, I will see you around, Ms Weiss." Why did that sound like he will come looking for me, never mind that.

He walked off as I glared at him. "Who the hell was that?" I could hear them both sigh before we continued walking.

"That is Lucas Smith, he thinks he is a hot shot here." Eloise said. "Doesn't look like one to me." I joked.

Soon, we reached an office at the far end. We knocked on the door and opened the door. Abel was seated there and my dad was sitting on the couch. "Didn't you say you had something to do?"

"Isn't this something to do?" Abel retorted. "Sit down, we have much to discuss."

He grabbed a huge box and placed it in front of me. "In there is your badge and other necessities." I opened it and rummaged into it. My hands stop at a large brown envelope. "What's this?"

I looked at my dad and he urged me to open it. "This...it's your mom's letter to you." I immediately ripped open the letter and it revealed a brown paper. It was mom's favourite writing paper.

It read:

To my dear child,

By the time you read this letter, it means that I was either killed or taken. I am very sorry that you have to carry the burden of me being your mother. I ran away and did not think about the family. I just couldn't face it, I can't let you guys live such a hard life.

I have to come clean, I am the daughter of the head of an underground organisation. I was undercover at that brothel I met your father. What happened that night was not supposed to happen.

I was supposed to kill the head and return to my father. However, the whole incident happened and I was brought to your father's organisation.

After I was released, I fell in love and we had you. I love you a lot but then my loose ends came chasing after me. That's why I had to leave, so that you did not need to suffer.

My brother sold me to pay his debts and they came looking for me. I had paid his debts with my money but they wanted more. They had found out about your existence but your dad will protect you.

I know I could not be there for most of your life but I have left you my inheritance. I just want you to know that mom is proud that you are growing even though I am not there for you. In my next life, I wish that you are my daughter again.
