"Captain Mitchell is no longer your instructor. And as of today, there are new mission parameters"

The pilots look at one another, trying to figure out why Maverick isn't their instructor.

"Time to target is four minutes. You'll be entering the valley level at reduced speed
Not to exceed 420 knots"

Scarlett and Jake look at each other, both knowing that the mission wouldn't be possible with the new parameters.

"Sir, won't we be giving their planes time to intercept?" Bob asks.

"Yeah, and we won't be able to dogfight out way out, especially if we have multiple missiles on our ass" Scarlett adds.

"Well you still have a fighting chance"

"Yeah, a chance" Scarlett whispers to Jake.

"What are the odds of surviving a head-on collision with a mountain?" Cyclone ask.

"What are the odds of winning a fight in an F-18?" Scarlett argues.

"You'll be attacking the target from a higher altitude, level with the north wall" cyclone continues, ignoring Scarlett.

Scarlett continues to listen, despite her not agreeing one bit with the new parameters. After a few minutes of the admiral talking, the monitor goes off behind him, signaling someone was on the course.

"Maverick to range control. Entering point Alfa. Confirm green range"

Scarlett leans forward in her seat, interested if Maverick was going to complete the course or not. Scarlett feels Jake lean forward too. The entire room was on the edge of their seats wondering what was going to happen.

The aviators watch in Silence as Maverick gets green range confirmed, even though he doesn't have an event scheduled. Maverick continues on his path, setting the time to target at 2 minutes and 15 seconds.

Jake and Scarlett share a glance, Jake was leaned back in his seat, smirking. Maverick enters the path, all eyes on his plane, waiting to see what happens.

The clock starts ticking, Scarlett leans back in her seat, Jake and Scarlett's arms touching. Scarlett couldn't help but to be skeptical, despite knowing how good of a pilot Maverick is. She may not like Mav, but she'll admit he's a damn good pilot.

The only thing that could be heard in the room was mavericks heavy breathing over the coms.

He sounds like a Minecraft villager.

Scarlett smirks as she watches Mavericks plane go over the first mountain. She bites her nails as Mav gets closer and closer to the missile target, with less than half a minute left.

Scarlett stands as the time gets closer to zero, wondering if he'll actually make it. The aviators eyes widen when they see he's hitting 9.5 G's,

"Holy fuck" Scarlett whispers as Maverick gets a bullseye with .16 seconds left to spare.

"Bullseye! Holy shit!"

A few aviators cheer while the rest sit in silence, wondering if they could do what Maverick just achieved.

"Damn" Jake says, still staring at the screen.

Jake and Scarlett look at each other, sharing the same smirk. Phoenix notices this and nearly squeals. She'd always thought that the two would look cute together, and with all the dates they had been going on- it was only a matter of time before the two got together.

"You're all dismissed" the admiral announces, walking towards the doors.

The aviators flood out the room, laughing and talking about what Maverick just did. Scarlett looks out the window to see that it had started to rain.

Oh, I can go home, make coffee, watch marvel movies, and sleep the rest of the day

"What are you doing this afternoon?" Hangman ask.

"Watching movies and sleeping"

"Care if I join?"

Scarlett thinks for a second, not knowing what to say. She didn't know if she had a crush on him or not, and it bothered her.

"Sure"

The two hop into Scarlett's mustang once the rain slows. Scarlett wasn't concerned about rooster since he was going to see a movie at the theater that was 3 hours long.

Scarlett drove to her house, driving carefully. She had always been paranoid when driving, not wanting to crash.

They Soon got to her house, running inside so they wouldn't get soaked. Scarlett and Jake make their to her room, both shivering from their wet clothes.

Scarlett grabs two towels from her bathroom, tossing one to Jake as she walks towards her closet so she could get some leggings and a hoodie.

Scarlett quickly changes in her bathroom while hangman dries off. She walks back into her room, then flopping onto her bed.

Scarlett laid on her back, staring up at the ceiling. She feels the mattress dip down beside her as Jake lays down on his back. Scarlett feels around the mattress until she finds his hand, she takes hold of his hand, expecting him to say something, but he doesn't.

The two stay like that for who knows how long, listening to the rain, and holding hands. Scarlett dozes off a little at some point, only to be woken up by the feeling of someone staring at her. She looks over at Jake, to see him staring at her.

"You're beautiful. Have I ever told you that?" Jake says, not taking his eyes off Scarlett. Scarlett blushes, not knowing how to respond.

"If I had a dollar for every time I thought about you, I'd only have a dollar"

        "And why is that, hangman?"

"Because you never leave my mind"

This was when Scarlett knew she was head over heels for Jake Seresin. This made her realize that he never actually left her mind. All those looks and comments during class, they meant something.

Without thinking Scarlett does something she would never have imagined herself doing.

   She kisses Jake Seresin.

The kiss is magical. And for a split second - Scarlett doesn't even believe it's happening. But the feel of Jakes lips on hers, makes her believe that what is happening is real.

"I've waited so long for that" Jake murmurs into Scarlett's lips. Scarlett smiles, she had been waiting to do that too.

The two stay wrapped up like that for hours, watching movie after movie. Rooster had gone to get lunch with some old friends, and they would probably be a while.

"Scarlett" Jake mutters as Scarlett snuggles closer to him, attempting to get as much body heat as possible, "I know it's a little soon but, will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes, I will be your girlfriend" Scarlett smiles so much her face hurts. She was thankful that it was a dark grey outside, and her LED lights were on a dark purple, so Jake couldn't see her face.

Scarlett Carole Seresin, I like the way that sounds

The couple lays in the darkness for a while, both too interested in Iron Man to talk. Soon Scarlett feels Jake relax, and his breathing even out, signaling he had fallen asleep. Scarlett pulls some blankets over her and her new boyfriend, before falling asleep shortly after.
