chapter eighteen!

H E R M I O N E

"i'll just take a white coffee, thanks spud." pansy said to the worker, as he served her and hermione granger on their date.
"and i'll have a pumpkin juice, please." the brunet girl smiled as she ordered. then spud, the waiter, walked off with his little notepad with their orders on it.

"this wouldn't be a successful date, without some gossip." pansy smirked, and hermione looked at her puzzled.
"what do you mean?"
"potter and draco! we need to get them back together."
"oh my gosh, yes!" hermione giggled after she finally understood what the other girl was hinting at.

"but if draco lost feelings—"
"he didn't!" pansy denied quickly, shaking her head. "he just said that so potter would give up. but draco hasn't lost feelings, he's still obsessed with the golden boy. the real reason why draco ended it with him was because of his father, lucius."
"what? his father found out?" hermione said, her voice quiet as she started to put all the puzzle pieces together.

"yes, he threatened to kill potter if draco didn't end it! thats why they broke up, so if we can deal with lucius it should be easy for them to get back together!" pansy smirked at the idea, and hermione nodded hastily.
"yeah, that works. but one problem, how exactly are we gonna deal with lucius malfoy?" hermione forced a laugh at the thought.

"oh. good question."

hermione entered the common room with a big smile on her face while she looked around for her two best friends.

"hermione!" there he is.
"ronald! hi!" she said as she ran up to the ginger and hugged him. after looking around, she noticed harry wasn't with him.
"wheres—"
"he's with snape, something about him needing tutoring in potions. snape graciously offered to do so." ron said in a sarcastic tone, he knew nothing about snape was gracious.
"oh, i see."
"but tell me about your date!"

"oh it was lovely ron, she was so sweet and kind. she held out my chair for me when sitting down and kept a casual, fun conversation throughout the whole date! and then at the end, she asked me out on a second date next week!" hermione smiled widely as she recapped her romantic get-together with pansy. ronald grinned as he listened to his friend beam about her date.

to be honest, ron was weary when hermione first told him about her date with pansy parkinson. after all, this all seemed too familiar. he knew how devastated harry was when malfoy dumped him — hell, he still is devastated. ron would hate to see hermione like that, but maybe pansy was different to malfoy.

all ron knew was that he didn't even know pansy, so she could be a really nice person? maybe he could ask blaise the next time they spoke, since they had started becoming friendly with each other recently — surely zabini would know if pansy is worth hermione's time and affection.

but for now, ron needed to be supportive with hermione. he could tell how much his best friend liked this girl, so he had to encourage her since pansy was clearly making her happy.

"its great, that you're going on a second date 'mione!" ron beamed, his smile wide.
"thanks for being happy for me." she said, pulling the ginger boy into a hug.
"of course."
"also, i have a plan. if you're willing to help me?" she asked, now separated from ron.
"what sort of plan?" he puzzled, his head tilting slightly.
"to get harry and malfoy back together."

meanwhile, with harry and snape in the potion room. the small brunette was currently packing away his books as he listened to snape talking. "same time tomorrow harry." he stated, his voice monotone.
"yes professor." harry nodded, not bothering to protest.

and with a swoosh of his cape, snape had gone — leaving harry alone in the classroom. he looked around before making his way to the hallway, and then to the slytherin common room.

"hey guys!" he said to his friends as he entered the room.
"hi!" neville longbottom greeted harry with a genuine smile, nodding to him.
"harry!" hermione beamed, running towards the brunette and tackling him in a quick hug.

"hermione! how was your date?" he asked instantly.
"it was fabulous! we're doing it again next week." she explained with a smile on her face. and harry grinned proudly.
"that's amazing!" he smiled, hugging her once again.

harry forced any thoughts of draco out of his mind. in this moment, he needed to be focused on his friend and her happiness — not a stupid boy who didn't give a damn about him.
