H A R R Y

he strolled into potions class, extremely late this tuesday afternoon. lunch had just finished, but harry had ran up to his dorm to fetch his potions book before class; which resorted in him being late.
"sorry i'm late." he said quickly, not wanting to get too many points taken from slytherin. he wasn't in the mood to feel like a failure today, he was already tired and annoyed.

"thirty points taken from gryffindor." snape said without hesitation.
"WHAT? i was only five minutes late, professor!" harry protested.
"seven minutes, potter." he responded, his voice still monotone of course.

harry huffed before walking to his desk and sitting down.
"where were you?" hermione asked.
"i went to the dorms to get my book." harry explained, putting the textbook on the desk infront of him. hermione nodded; turning her attention to the professor.

harry looked around the class for a certain blonde boy, and there he was. draco was sitting in his usual seat, staring intently at the chalkboard as he mentally worked out the equation. then, his hand flung up, and snape spotted it immediately.

"yes, draco?" he asked, knowing the boy would have the right answer.
"felix felicis takes six months to brew." he stated proudly.
"correct! ten points for slytherin." snape nodded and draco grinned to himself.

harry smiled at the sight of draco smiling, he hadn't seen it in awhile. a true, genuine smile. it really was a glorious sight.

now, the students had a fifteen minute break before back to lesson. after this break, harry would have potions once again. he wasn't looking forward to it.

"i don't know hermione." harry shrugged, and the girl sighed. she kept her eyes forward, as the two walked down the hallways side by side. harry also did this, but had most of his attention focused on the conversation.
"it stops hiccups harry! its literally in the name: hiccoughing potion." hermione groaned. this was supposed to be an easy quiz to get harry's brain working, but it just wasn't.

"right— sorry." harry sighed. "i can't—"

*crash!*

harry rubbed his head as he looked across him to the mystery person who abruptly bumped into him. his eyes widened at the sight of draco malfoy sitting down opposite, in the exact state of surprise harry was also in.

"crap— sorry." draco said, quickly scrambling to his feet and then offering harry a hand up. the brunette forced a chuckle as he took the hand and shook it slightly after getting up to his feet also.

"no worries, my fault." harry shrugged, nodding gently.

"malfoy!" hermione smiled widely, almost too widely. it looked strange, quite scary.
"hey— uh granger." draco had no idea why hermione was talking to him.

"wanna practice quidditch with me and harry later? you can bring pansy." she offered, and harry's eyes widened after he registered what his friend had said.

"uh— pansy doesn't even play quidditch." draco said confusingly.
"i know but me and her can watch while you and harry practice."

"no no— you don't have to!" harry quickly denied, shaking his head desperately. he shot hermione an angry look, that draco thankfully missed.

"uhh..." the blonde boy muttered, thinking awkwardly. why on earth would he say yes to this? maybe, to bring granger and pansy closer? but why did harry have to come... "okay, sure." he had to do this, for pansys sake of course.

or at least, thats what draco forced himself to believe. it of course had nothing to do with harry being there.

"okay! just come straight after dinner, alright?" hermione arranged as harry stood there in silence, staring at draco's shoes.
"alright." the blonde nodded before averting his gaze to harry.

the brunette could just feel draco's eyes on him so he mistakenly looked up. their eyes met, and didn't seperate until a few seconds later.
"bye." draco said quickly, then speeding off down the hallway.

harry could feel his cheeks going redder by the second as he turned to his best friend.
"before you get mad—"
"mad? i am past being mad! i'm furious! why would you do that hermione?!" harry whisper-shouted.
"maybe you two should start talking again?.." she mumbled, backing away slightly.

"what? no! he's the one that ended it, he should make the effort if he wants to start things up again — but he clearly doesn't." harry stated, although he was very wrong, he just didn't know it yet.
"harry come on, maybe you two can be friends at least. for mine and pansy's sake? please, i don't want any awkwardness between you and him, it could get in the way of me and pans."

and harry knew hermione was right. if draco didn't at least try to get along, it could get in the way of pansy and hermione's relationship. harry didn't want to sabotage his best friend's thing for parkinson, so for that reason and that reason only... he agreed to this weird little meet-up.
