*********
I couldn't do anything.
I was useless.
I can't breath.
I can't think.
I can't do this.
They shot around me, everyone seemed to be shooting their guns through the fence. Everyone seemed to be firing at each other. Everyone seemed to have some sort of target.
It was chaos.
Beth and Maggie screamed, their cries flooding my ears with pain. A few others shot dumbfounded through the fence, most of us still processing what happened.
Allison grabbed my arm, and began pulling me to the side, before stopped stiffly, and collapsed to the ground.
I stared at her body as she fell onto her back with a sickening slap. Blood poured from her forehead, her eyes open and staring up at the sky silently.
I couldn't react. I didn't know how to. Allison Pearson is dead. She tried to help you. And now she's dead.
Rick had ducked behind the bus, looking bloody and injured. I had lost track of Hershels body, and Michonne was no where to be seen.
"Mariah!" Daryl screamed, jumping at me and knocking me to the ground. Bullets flew by the spot I was standing and I just laid on the ground, speechless.
All I could do was stare at Allison's still body. She didn't move. I waited for her to move, to wake up. "Mariah, common'." He urged.
"Allison." I whispered, staring at the blood pooling around her in a crimson puddle.
The screeching protest of metal squealed as the tank rammed the fence down. "Come on," Daryl urged, basically dragging me around the corner as some of the others fled. He began shooting through a hole in the fence, and nailed three guys right away.
"Mariah, go find Tori. Grab her and get out." He shouted over the gunshots. "Look at me!"
My eyes flickered away from the war waging on around me, to his panicked face.
"I can't." I whispered, looking into those blue eyes.
"Mariah Dixon, listen to me." He snapped, putting the gun down and turning to me.
"You go find that little girl, and you run. I will find you, I promise I will. But you have to fight." He paused, taking my face into his dirty palms. "I love you, Mariah. Now, go."
My lip quivered violently, feeling the warm tears slip out of my eyes and onto his hands. "Daryl." I whispered, wanting to kiss him, hug him, tell him that I loved him.
His eyes brightened a bit, looking at me and sparkling. Sparkling with hope. Something I haven't seen in those deep ocean blue eyes in a while.
Daryl pressed his lips to mine, soft and longing. We craved each other like a drug. I savored the sweet sensation, the way his teeth nibbled gently on my lip as his tongue slid into my mouth. And then he stopped, he pulled away from me and gazed at me one more time. "I know."
Then he left, shooting the Governors soliders as they approached us. I kneeled there in awe, my brain screaming at me to move, but my body standing still like a statue.
I stood up, running towards cell block A, my legs carrying me the distance. I felt almost robotic as I turned the corner, seeing Daryl shoot at the soliders. My last glance at him. At my beautiful redneck.
