I wrapped the ripped towel around my wet body. I secured the towel tightly around my waist before combing my fingers through my hair to untangle the knots. I told Allison everything, literally. The kiss, the dream, the two men and everything else in between. She didn't really have much to say, just that she thought I should speak to Rick. I put that on my to-do list. I glanced in the cracked mirror at my own reflection and nearly gasped at how alien I looked. My face was narrow, definitely the slimmest I've ever been, my hair was getting to a stupidly long length, nearly hanging down past my back, and my figured look sickly thin with my bony figure.
I shivered, my body still felt icy from the cold shower I was emerged in only minutes ago. I quickly dried the rest of my body off with the towel and shrugged on my dark wash jeans, a mauve V-neck T-shirt and my leather jacket. My wet hair dripped freezing drops of water down my neck while I pulled on my scruffy combat boots. I examined the sole of the boot and sighed when I could see the age of the boots showing. The sole was being separated from the boot, the laces had lost their eaglets a long time ago, I couldn't even remember what the boots originally looked like since there was so much dirt and mud stuck to them.
I definitely needed new shoes. I didn't think my boots could hold out for much longer. I sighed and started down the hallway, feeling cold but refreshed from the chilly shower. I started walking down the hallway, my footsteps echoed against the concrete and I tried to think of a way to talk to Rick.
I ducked into my cell quickly, grabbed my weapons belt, and strapped it on. I slid the shitty revolver out of its slot and replaced it with the python from yesterday. I slung my sword on my back and snatched my mothers amulet off of the table before heading outside. I slipped it over my head and slid it inside of my shirt, just so it wouldn't get caught on anything important and snap off. I would need to go outside today, probably to help anyone going out on a run, and so I could avoid Daryl until I thought of some kind of plan. I'd rather grab my weapons now then come back later.
I started back down the hallway and stuck my hands into my pockets while my boots clicked against the concrete.
"MARI-A-A-A-A-H!" A tiny voice squealed from behind me.
Tiny footsteps pounded against the floor and I turned around just in time to have Victoria throw herself around my waist. I grunted, her petite figure nearly knocked the wind out of me. "Hey." I said, crouching down to give her a hug.
Her arms flung around my neck and I kissed the top of her head before embracing her tightly. "I miss you." She whimpered softly.
I pulled back and set my hands firmly on her shoulders, looking her dead in the eyes. "I miss you too, Daryl does as well. Is Beth taking extra good care of you?" I asked, a tiny piece of my heart shattering at his name.
She grinned and nodded. "She just went the bathroom."
I nodded and stood up straight, offering my hand to her. She slipped her tiny hand into mine and she hopped along beside me.
"So what have you been up too?" I asked thoughtfully.
Victoria smiled innocently and launched, into full detail, about her 'sleepover' with Beth. I smiled and nodded, trying to listen even though my mind was elsewhere.
"When can I come back home?" She asked, catching me off guard.
"Oh," I stuttered. "Soon baby, I promise." I swooped her up into my arms and swung her around in a circle a few times to distract her from the topic. The last thing I wanted Victoria to do was get involved with me waking up every night screaming at the top of my lungs.
She was giggling hysterically when we got outside, her laugh seemed to brighten the mood around us, almost as if we forgot about the death and violence that loomed over our heads every single day.
