"Daryl." A voice softly whispered in the bright morning sunlight.
My eyes slowly opened and I gasped in alarm at the silhouette of a man standing over Daryl's side of the bed. "Daryl, wake up." The voice hissed, obviously unaware of my consciousness.
I looked closer, watching as the silhouette moved silently until I sighed in relief, realizing that the intruder was Rick. I sat up, rubbing my eyed before nudging Daryl in his side. He snorted and shot up right away, "What?" He mumbled.
"Thank you." Rick nodded his head to me before scratching his beard carefully. "I, uh, need you to come with me."
"What is it, Rick?" I asked, getting concerned with how secretive he was being.
"Theres a situation, nothing big. I just need to borrow Daryl." Rick stuttered, as if he was hiding something.
Daryl studied Rick quietly for a moment before he sighed, and rolled out of bed. "Be outside in a minute." He grunted.
Rick nodded slightly before exiting the room quietly. "I'm coming with you." I said, throwing the blanket off easily.
Daryl slipped a shirt on over his toned chest, his muscles flexing as he did so. "I know." He grumbled, pulling his boots on.
I sighed, and threw on some random t-shirt, pulled my boots on and yanked my hair back into a pony tail. Daryl grabbed his knife hastily and alarm shot through me instantly.
Had there been another death?
I glanced at Victoria sleeping soundly in the little bed and my heart skipped a beat, knowing she was infected with this damn disease. "Common." Daryl urged, whipping the white curtain away from the door hastily.
I trudged after Daryl, and Rick nodded his head at me surely. "This is gonna be pretty rough. You keep quiet, and stay back. I don't need to worry about you too." He ordered.
I looked at him quizzically before he turned on his heels and headed to the exit of cell block C. Daryl slipped his knife into his back pocket and I hung back a little more, following the two men down the never ending tunnels towards are peculiar destination.
We reached D quickly, Carol standing guard near the entrance to the cell block. She had sad eyes, and slowly moved so we could see what laid just past her. My eyes widened at what laid on the floor before me.
A dark, red trail of blood created a gory path towards the outside entrance of the cell block. "What happened here?" I whispered, unable to contain my racing thoughts.
"I don't know." Rick sighed, looking back at Daryl and me. "It gets worse."
How could it possibly get worse? A nasty looking pathway of sticky blood was painted on the floor, what was worse than a pathway that reminded me of death?
Rick carefully maneuvered his way past the blood trail, Daryl and I side stepped around the blood after him with Carol following silently after us.
Rick shoved open the door to find Tyreese standing there as if he was frozen. The scent of charred flesh rotted in the air, making me want to gage and puke all over the ground.
I averted my gaze down and froze still, like Tyreese. Two burnt bodies laid on the ground, smoke still coming off of them as if they had just been set on fire.
