The sky shone beautifully over your head as you admired the stars. Today was finally the day. All your hard work hadn't been for nothing. You had figured out why the letters had been sent and knew the spy would be there and second. After this, you could finally go back to your normal life.
You gave a wistful smile to the sky, enjoying the night's breeze before the sound of footsteps behind you caught your attention. You turned to see a figure behind you. It was too dark to make out their features, but they were staring straight into your soul.
"I guess the pawns are face to face on the board now, hm 'N/n-chan'?" Their voice sounded oddly familiar; you just couldn't put your finger on it. Maybe they were a regular at the club?
You may not have known who they were, but their voice was irritating you. You tried to open your mouth to make a remark, but nothing came out, in fact, you couldn't control anything you were doing.
You, no, your body smiled and gave a laugh. "You think so?" A mischievous glint could be seen in your eyes.
The figure hummed. You were unsure if they were thinking or responding 'yes' to your question. They took a step closer, the light from the moon dauntingly seeping over their face. However, before you could see their features, they began to fade away into a misty darkness.
Am I going unconscious? Did I eat anything they could have drugged? Did they attack me from behind?
These thoughts crowded you head as your vision went black.
----
"Y/n-chan! Come on!"
"Wake up!"
"I think she just moved!"
You looked up to see five idiots, Kyoya, and Haruhi.
Where am I?
"We're still at your house, N/n-chan, are you okay?" Honey sat next to you, it looked like him and the other hosts had been crying. Well, except for Haruhi, Kyoya, and Mori.
Oops, I must have said that aloud. What did they do now?
Haruhi stepped forwards, sighing. "Sorry, N/n-chan. Tamaki-senpai wanted to see where you lived so he dragged us out here. When you didn't answer after a few seconds he got worried and barged in. You were in front of the door, so it knocked you out."
You blinked before sending a glare to the -once again- mushroom farmer. He jumped as he felt your glared before continuing to sulk in the corner.
"Hey, N/n-chan, why didn't you just get a maid to get the door for you?" Hikaru asked nonchalantly.
"Yeah, everyone knows your parents run a sweets company, so shouldn't you have someone with you at all times?" Karou continued after seeing that no one seemed to be home besides you.
The hosts, minus Kyoya, looked around warily. Even Haruhi started to look concerned. It was too early for this.
You shrugged, "I'm just staying here temporarily, I didn't want to have to take a plane every morning to get to school."
Honey grabbed your hand to help you up. "A plane?"
You nodded, rubbing your head with your free hand. "I'm not from Japan, but after I told my parents I was going to Ouran they decided to expand their company to here."
Kyoya nodded, "After looking further into N/n-chan's background, I found that her parents own the most successful sweets company in their country, it's also one of the top ten most successful food industries in the world."
Haruhi looked surprised, "How did you not know this from the start Kyoya-senpai?"
He pushed up his glasses, "Tamaki's father made sure there was no evidence of who N/n-chan actually was, that way no one would be suspicious of why a world-famous detective was going to Ouran."
You held back a retort to correct him. You were a private investigator, not a detective. It's a very specific job which you took pride in being. It totally didn't just sound cooler.
The other hosts nodded to Kyoya's reply.
"Anyways, what are you guys here for? It is Saturday, y'know." You couldn't help but feel a certain someone had something planned.
Tamaki perked up at hearing this and trotted over to where you were. "N/n-chan! We just missed you so much! We came to visit you!" He gave you a choking hug, making your insides feel like they were going to be squeezed out at any second.
Haruhi sighed and pried Tamaki off you. "Sorry N/n-chan, we couldn't stop him." She looked guilty, but deep down, past her big-sisterly politeness she was curious to see what your house was like.
You waved off Haruhi's concern, "It's okay, I guess I could get your opinions on something..." You trailed, tapping a finger to your cheek.
Honey's face lit up, "Are we going to help with your detective work?!"
You gulped, startled, "That's not what I... I mean, I wanted your opinions on a recipe my parents wanted me to try making, but it would be great to have help with the case, too." You smiled despite the embarrassment of giving in to the blonde boy's sadden face after you began to brush his assumption off.
"We didn't know you liked to bake, N/n-chan." Hikaru said, already heading towards your living room.
Karou followed shortly after, "You must be an awesome baker since you grew up around a lot of talented chefs."
Your cheeks flushed a rosy pink, "I don't think I'm that great at baking, but I can follow simple instructions."
Honey, still holding your hand tugged you along, following the twins. "I bet whatever you bake tastes great, N/n-chan!" A goofy smile made its way onto your face.
Hold on, isn't this my house?
