On the 12th hour of the first day in October 1989, 43 women all across the globe gave birth. This was unusual in the fact that none of the women were pregnant the morning before they gave birth. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of these children as possible

He got seven of them

All of these children were blessed with certain powers. Number one, Luther, had abnormal strength. Number two, Diego, could control metals and was extremely good with knife throwing. Number three, Allison, could control people by simply saying "I heard a rumour..." Number four, Klaus, could summon ghosts from the dead but unfortunately there was seldom use for this power. Number five, his name was also Five, could spatial jump on command. Number six, Ben, had a demon inside of him that could come out if he was angry or agitated. Number seven, Vanya, she was an ordinary girl with no powers and could never go on missions. These seven children formed The Umbrella Academy.

They protected the city against crime and were the elite superhero group, until they lost 2 valuable members. Five who always wanted to time travel eventually did so, but when he ended up in the future there was no way getting back to his present time. Reginald then put a painting of him above the fireplace in his memory. Shortly after Five disappeared there was another pregnancy of a gifted child. This child was born the same way as the other 43 women on October 1st. It was a girl and she was born on August 13  2005. Reginald offered a lot of money to get this girl in his possession so that his academy can be "full" again. She was known as Number eight, her powers were everyone's powers, by simply touching them, as well as her own powers which included music, bracelet magic where she could find charms and many more to be discovered.

The day when Reginald went to fetch number eight, the Umbrella's were on a mission, where Ben passed away. When the Umbrella's came back from their mission, they saw that Reginald had a baby in his arms, which was unusual since he despised children which was ironic since he adopted 7, sorry i mean 8, children to defend the city. But see the thing is that he didn't really care for them he just cared for his own profit and fame that he was making out of them. Diego was the first one to speak, "Father, who is this?" He looked sceptically at this baby in their father's arms. "This is Number Eight. She will be a part of this academy as well now," he replied to his son looking sternly as the children gathered around him. "Father, but she is just a baby...it will take years for her to master her powers, if she ever can master them." Allison said worried while trying to wrap her head around the idea of having a baby sister. "I can't believe you're just replacing Ben and Five this way," Klaus muttered under his breath. Reginald shot a glance at him and gave the baby to Grace.

Grace held her lovingly in her arms and rocked her back and forth. Number eight had bright blue eyes as well as red cheeks which lit up even more as she laughed. "Now what shall we call you little one?" Grace asked thinking the baby could reply her which she obviously couldn't. Downstairs you could hear the siblings fighting with their father about this new sibling of theirs. "She doesn't belong here dad!" "She will ruin the academy name and you know it!" "She could be a Jinx for all we know...she was just magically born?" Grace listened intensely as this fight was ongoing. The baby in her arms started cooing when she heard the word "jinx". "Is that your name, sweetheart?" She asked, tickling Number eight's stomach. This made number eight laugh uncontrollably. "Then it's settled. From this day forth you will be known as Jinx Hargreeves," she said and took her to her room.

...

Fourteen years has passed now. Jinx was still living in the old academy with her father, Pogo and Grace. Luther was sent to the moon a few years ago. Diego tried to become a police officer, but he was declined several times, so he became a vigilante instead. Allison was a famous actress and had a family of her own now. Klaus was in and out of rehab, constantly getting into trouble. Lastly Vanya explored her musical side and was third chair in the orchestra. Jinx practiced her skills every day as her powers were still 'raw' as her father would say, though she would disagree. She was getting more powerful each day and a new power was 'unlocked' every now and again. Reginald still pushed her to her limits as she was the only umbrella academy student left. She couldn't carry that name all by herself so she eventually stopped going on missions as well.

Jinx sighed, looking up from her book. She was laying in her bed, headphones on her ears and put her book down. The title of the book read 'Extra-Ordinary: My life as number seven by Vanya Hargreeves'. The music was so loud that you could hear it everywhere in the room, even though the headphones were on her ears. The song that was playing was "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees. For some reason, this song just felt like home to her. "Ah-ah-ah-ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive," she sang with the song. She looked back at the book and sighed again. She always knew that her father had treated Vanya unfairly but this was just messed up. To think that this started happening before she got here. She looked over to the window and had an ache in her heart. It was for her siblings that she missed so dearly. Before Luther went away she tried to arrange them all to get together again but it was the same excuses over and over again.

"As you probably know I'm protecting everyone from danger," was Diego's reply. She always felt that she and Diego didn't have the strongest connection but she hoped it would improve over time. "Sorry sweetie, I'm a little busy with shooting but I will pop in sometime," was Allison's reply. Allison always looked out for her baby sister, even though she knew she could handle herself. Klaus wasn't really allowed any phone calls in rehab so she just told the officer on duty to give him a message. Those messages never got delivered to him as the officer never cared. "Sorry M, I'm quite busy with rehearsals. You can still watch my shows if you like?" Vanya had the deepest connection with Jinx of all of the siblings. As the others were training Vanya watched over Jinx helping her control her powers.

Just as she took off her headphones, Jinx's train of thought was broken as a deafening scream filled the corridors. She shot up out of bed and ran down the hallway from where the screaming was coming from. She fired up her bracelet as she entered her father's room when she saw that his chest was no longer making the rhythmic movement of breathing. His arms were hanging lifelessly next to his body. Grace stood there trying to bring his vitals back up but deep down inside of them they knew the truth. Reginald Hargreeves has passed away. "I better let the children know," Grace said after a while of coming over the shock. Jinx's head was working over time as Grace left the room. He was perfectly fine yesterday, what changed? She snooped around the room without touching her father trying to look for clues. His cane was in its usual place as well as his hat. She came closer to her father and saw something that shocked her into her bones
