On our last day, we begin to pack up all our stuff and for the rest of the week, I didn't have as bad of a headache as the one from that night. I texted my dad almost every day but I still haven't gotten news about the results. I zip up my suitcase and turn off all the lights. I ride the elevator to the lobby and seems like I'm the last one out.I hand the keys to Ms. Louis and walk over to the group. "I had fun," I smile at them.
"Same," Chase winks at me.
"Ugh," Levi pretends to gag.
"Leave them be," Parker nudges him.
"Alright let's head out," Ms. Louis directs everyone to the bus, and we all board.
When I get on I make eye contact with Ava and she smirks at me like she knows something I don't but I ignore her for the sake of my mental health. I take a seat and Parker sits next to me and Chase next to Levi.
I ended up watching a movie while going to the airport and once we get there we board on time, I was nervous because I had no time to prepare.
We board and the seats changed a bit. Chase was on the left end and I was next to him then Parker on my right and Levi on the other end. I sat back and closed my eyes for a while. It was longer than I thought because the plane starts to take off.
After about 2 minutes the plane stabilizes. I take a deep breath and wait for the flight attendant to pass by. She stops in our row and Chase looks up from the movie he's watching and asks for water, Levi asks for Dr. Pepper, and Parker asks for Apple juice for some weird reason. I ask for once again, ice-cold water.
She gives us the drinks to us and carries on. I start to shake my leg violently and down the cold water. I hold my head from the brain freeze. I feel both my legs shaking and my anxiety spikes when we go through turbulence. Before I have a complete breakdown, I feel a hand on my leg stopping it from shaking. I look over at a smiling Chase.
"It's okay, I'm here," he rubs my leg. I calm down a lot and breathe smoothly.
When the flight attendant stops by again after a while, I was about to ask for another water but Chase just takes my hand.
"I promise you're fine," he distracts me.
I lay back in my seat and Chase gives me one of his AirPods to watch the movie with him. I start to get an urge to use the bathroom.
"I gotta go," I tell Chase.
He nods and moves his legs back to let me pass. I trip a little and fall into his lap. I look back at him and he tenses up a little.
"Sorry," I whisper.
"No it's fine," he gulps.
I feel something start to poke my leg and I look back at him again and start laughing. "Am I that amusing?" I cover my mouth so I don't wake up others.
"Haha," he says sarcastically.
I get up and walk to the bathroom. After I use the bathroom and wash my hands, I get a sharp pain where my scar is. I turn around and pull up my shirt to see what it is. It looks red and a little swollen.
What the hell? I thought it was healed.
Whatever. I pull down my shirt and leave the bathroom to go back to my seat. I slide between the seat and Chase. I take a seat and he gives me an Airpod to continue the movie. My eyes begin to get heavy once I lay back in my chair. I'm so exhausted.
I feel a tap on my shoulder and I slowly open my eyes to the steady feeling of the plane on the runway. I groan awake and lift my head from Chase's shoulder. I get up and grab my stuff to get off the plane. Once we enter the airport the jetlag sets in and I feel like I'm gonna pass out every time I move.
Everyone goes to baggage claim and grabs their stuff and starts getting picked up. I get a text from my dad that he's outside.
"I'll see you guys at school," I hug all of them and make my way outside.
I get outside to a cold breeze of air but not as cold. I look around and see a wave from my dad in his car. He gets out and puts my suitcase in the backseat. He turns around and gives me a big hug.
"The longest I've been away from you," he releases me from the bear hug.
I smile and we both get into the car. He begins to drive back home in peaceful silence. I fight the urge to ask but I give in.
"Any news?" I turn to him.
"He said he'll email you, I haven't heard anything," my dad knows exactly what I was asking about.
"Ok," I sigh.
"Luckily, your game got postponed because they heard their star player was just getting back from a trip," he says excitingly.
"I'm not the star player," I laugh.
"I think you are," he turns off the highway.
"You have to think that," I say.
"I guess so," he shrugs.
Once we get home, I go immediately to my bed and warm up. Feels good to be home. I lay down and eventually fall asleep because being on a plane tired me out.
I set a timer before laying down because I do want to go to school tomorrow to catch up on some work. Oh, I forgot about all the work I missed. Hopefully, it won't set me back too much but I think I'll handle it.
