I open my eyes to the shining light from the window. My blanket is covering me but I feel so cold. I get off my bed and feel weird. Stupid rain. I walk downstairs wrapped in a small blanket. I smell a sweet smell as I walk into the kitchen.

"Morning," my dad smiles.

"Hey," I say softly yawning.

"I saw your text after I finished my meeting, how did you get home?" he flips pancakes.

"Chase dropped me off," I lie because I don't want him to worry.

"Great, did you have fun?" he puts the food on two plates.

"I won prom queen," I smile.

"That's amazing," he hands me my plate.

I take a bite of my pancake and after the second bite, my stomach starts to feel full. I pick up the food and just drink water.

"What's up?" my dad asks.

"Not hungry but it looks and tastes amazing," I say.

"No worries, you can go to sleep if you want," he offers.

"No, I'm awake, I'll probably just go hang out with my friends," I finish as much of the plate as I can so it doesn't go to waste.

"Okay, text me if anything," he kisses me on the cheek.

"Dad?" I say before walking away.

"Yea?" he turns to me.

"Should I go to college?" I ask.

"If you want to and it could help, and you're really smart, I'd support either decision," he smiles.

"Thanks," I walk upstairs to get ready.

Once done, I go to my car and begin to drive to Parker's house. He told me to meet them there for some announcement but who knows with Parker? He could be announcing that got the golden ticket to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

I pull up into his driveway and see Chase's car. I forgot it's still awkward. For me, not for him. I walk to the porch and ring the doorbell. I hear footsteps and the door opens to Chase's smiling face. Once again he goes in for a kiss and I awkwardly turn it into a hug. I can tell he noticed but he left it alone for now. I walk into the house and go into the living room.

"What's the announcement?" I sit on the couch next to Levi.

"Sorry for the suspense," he walks up to us. "I got into Boston!" he exclaims.

"That's amazing," Levi says and hugs him. Chase does to and smiles.

"I'm happy for you," I smile.

"The thing is..." he begins.

"I'm leaving right after graduation so I won't be able to be here summer," he looks sad.

"We have a lot of time, don't worry," Chase says. I don't think we have as much time as he thinks.

"Well since we are talking about college, I'm going to Stanford with a soccer scholarship," Levi shrugs and sits down.

"Stanford?! What is your GPA?" Parker looks shocked.

"Doesn't matter, it's a scholarship, but I manage to get it up to a 3.7," he smiles.

"Good for you," I mess up his hair. He rolls his eyes and laughs.

"Any other college-goers?" I ask looking specifically at Chase.

"Princeton," he doesn't look too happy.

"Ivy League?!" Levi jumps up.

"Dude, what did you do?" Parker looks shocked.

"Homework," Chase shrugs.

"That's great," I know now that I'm happy for him, my worries are mine.

"What about you?" Parker asks.

"Don't think I'll be going," I say.

"Why not?" Chase asks.

"I don't know," I'm lying. I do know.

"Just think about it, okay?" Parker says.

"I will," I smile.

"That was all," Parker claps.

"Cool," I get up.

"Where you going?" Chase asks.

"Home," I say.

"You don't want to hang out?" Levi asks.

"Still feeling a little sick from last night," I walk to the door. "I'll talk to you guys later,"

"I'll walk her out," Chase follows behind me. I get to my car and unlock it. "Are you okay? You've been acting a little weird since last night," he comes up to me.

"When were you gonna tell me you even applied to college?" I turn to him.

"I didn't think I was obligated to, plus I didn't make my decision if I wanted to go or not," he defends.

"You're not, it just would've been nice to know," I look around.

"Look, I don't want to argue, I'm sorry I didn't tell you," he rubs my shoulders.

"It's okay and I'm sorry for acting weird, I just didn't know how to react," I give him a hug and an actual kiss this time.

"Your dad picked you up last night, right?" he asks.

"Uh yeah why?" I look at him.

"Your forehead just feels hot and uh," he starts. "You're dad called me to see where you were because he said you texted, so how'd you get home?" he says.

"I took an Uber," I say. "I told him you took me because he doesn't like Ubers," I lie once again.

"The truth please, Kayla,"

"I- I walked," I let it out.

"It was pouring yesterday, why would you?" he asks.

"By the time I got home, it just started raining, I walk pretty fast," I say a half-truth.

"I'm just worried about you," he says.

"I'm fine, you have nothing to worry about," I smile.

"Okay, I believe you, just get some rest, love you" he kisses me one last time before I get into my car.

He watches me leave the driveway before going back into the house. He's an amazing boyfriend. I don't know if I'm a good girlfriend.

When I get home, I go to my room to think. I open up my laptop and stare at my search screens. It's not like I don't have recommendation letters but it's the application that I haven't gotten to. I search a bunch of college applications and fill them out accordingly. I have an idea for a college essay so I get to writing.

One thing leads to another and now all that's left is to submit them all. I take a deep breath and click submit to all of them. Every single one. There's no going back now. My attendance in an actual school is what's worrying me. If I go to college, I don't want them to always worry if I'm just going to fall sick any minute.

I leave my room and go downstairs. I don't want to think about it.
