'Eight months.' said John wearily.
'Apparently a long time to forget such trifles.' Mycroft remarked coldly, 'Lets get back to this case.'
'The British Government does not mind.' mocked John as he had been mocked on many earlier occasions.
'The British Government has a lot of work in its hands, why should it?' The British Government was as cold as ever.
'Indeed, lets think this case over.' said Sherlock with a flash for a smile [(A/N): Oops, Jeremy Brett again.]
'Indeed.'
Sherlock got up to light a cigarette. He could not find his lighter on the mantle, so he opened the drawer. While going through the contents, his hand touched the book that Darlence had been writing, and he had "borrowed" to read it. A slight glance on the cover, and he tossed it into the fire.That done, he dropped his unlit cigarette and stationed himself on the window.
Mycroft raised his eyebrow and gorged in his last piece of cake, 'Don't tell me he's been like that for a while.'
'He's been like that for a while.' John returned.
'You've been like that for a while too.' Sherlock told his older brother.
'Cons of an overly imaginative mind.'
'Admit it, Mycroft.'
'You admit whatever.'
Their door then opened, and Mrs.Hudson came in fairly trotting, 'Sherlock, there's a visitor at the door.'
'Yes, visitors do come through the doors, throw them out.'
'Its only one, and a she.'
'Then throw her out.'
'You don't understand, she isn't very concious.'
'My word!' said John and dashed out.
