[(A/N): Yes, so practically, I just had my lower school certificate exam, and since Darlence is somewhat a little older than me now(17+); I just thought about making her appear for the higher one(since she has skipped forms). And, I am going to make her work hard (its higher school cert after all, not a joke. And she did not study for some time owing to the Sherrinford case). Well you can skip this chapter..... but I thought you would like a bit of Moriarty. Moriarty's fun, I think. *cunning grin*)
Darlence walked down the stairs of a much much larger place than 221 B. She saw a door half open and saw the light shinning. Edging her head in, she debated within herself whether to disturb the figure writing away on the desk or not.
'Darlence?' asked the man.
'Umm, yes. Could I have another cup of coffee, would cookie be awake do you think?'
'Another? This is the sixth you are asking for in the past two hours. And....' he checked his watch, 'Its quarter past one in the morning.'
'Is it? Damn!'
'Its higher school certificate.'
'And Baker Street is never the place for quiet studying. Thanks for having me here Mycroft.'
Mycroft finally turned around, 'You haven't slept for five days. I've seen these symptoms before, and they honestly alarm me a little. Do rest.'
'Is it five days?'
'Honestly Darlence!'
'I had no clue, honestly. And don't worry, I won't take up drugs like Sherlock.'
'One advantage of being Darlence Holmes.'
She smiled at that. It looked rather worn, and she had taken a ghostly pale look.
'I must ask you to stop smiling, it will startle the people here.' said Mycroft returning to his papers and waving towards the armchair, 'Take your mind off exams for a bit. Read some Arthur Conan Doyle, or Agatha Christie. I have personally loved "The Lost World" and "The Poison Belt" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.'
'I really can't afford to, since I've neglected my studies a lot.'
Mycroft got up and stuffed a copy of "The Lost World" in Darlence's hands, 'Or you can take a stroll outside.'
Capitulating, her head dropped, 'Outside, thank you. Much as I love books; I can't look at one now without falling asleep, and anyway I'm feeling as if I am under house arrest.' Mycroft shrugged, not comprehending why
She put on her coat wincing a bit with stiffness in her limbs with staying on the wooden chair for five consecutive days. Walking out, the warmth of the house turned to the bitter cold of the midnight London, so she pulled her coat tighter around her.
She had just come across a crossing when a solitary car honked, and she stepped back at once letting the car pass. This was when her phone rang. She picked it up.
'London's beautiful at night time, isn't it?'
'Quite. But who is this?'
'You'll see dear.' said the voice.
Darlence wrinkled up her face, she did not for one moment trust the "dear", said by anybody- least of all who she thought was calling. 'How do you know I am out here?'
'Darling, your big brother is not the only one with surveillance cameras around the city.'
Darlence passed a tongue over her lips and turned around home wards, hanging up abruptly; and keeping her phone in her pocket. At the end of the road, she found the same car that had passed her earlier, stopping right there with a lady and two men standing outside.
