After more than an hour of driving, they reached a secluded area near the woods. The two had stopped asking questions after the angel one.

Its quite a walk to where Im taking you. I hope you dont mind. Zeke stated while looking over at Heaven.

I do mind actually, Heaven joked, her voice laced with seriousness.

I can carry you.

I was just joking. Zeke hummed in response to her joke.

Thirty minutes into their walk, they finally reached a clearing with a cliff overlooking majestic falls.

On the grass of the cliff lays a blanket where a picnic basket sat. She closed the distance, took her shoes off, and sat down over the blanket.

She peered at Zeke from behind her, noticing that he was just standing there and staring at her.

The picnic is not going to transfer itself in your place. She said as she went to open the basket containing the food.

The scent of sweets and fruits assaulted her smell as she took each container out and laid it out properly. Zeke soon started helping her as they quietly spread out different types of dessert and fruits in containers.

Howd you know about the fruits? Heaven asked.

It was an observation from the dinner. He answered,

Nice observation. She said looking impressed.

I try, he said while smiling at her.

Anyways, where did you learn to fight so well? he asked as they began eating.

We studied in a prestigious academy mostly for celebrities and wealthy families before and learning to fight was a requirement. Its so that we are able to defend ourselves outside the academy hall when something happens. The lie rolled off her as she said the scripted version of the story that was made by Uriel.

That explains that then. How come you decided to study again? Why arent you working? he followed up.

Its more dangerous if we work since we would not be protected as much, even in our own businesses. We all pretty much just stayed at home, so you could say we got pampered. But it gets boring when you are at home most of your life. And then the one time one of us came out, they were instantly kidnapped. We already lost Acacias husband because of that.

Our families called Lord Michael and asked for help and he offered Monarch Academy. Its almost like our old Academy, and he said well be safer in this world due to the magical boundaries you have. She explained and he nodded. This type of lie is dangerous, it could harm their mate bond if it gets deeper. She knows hes not ready for the truth though.

My turn to ask, I heard you can change your eyes colour. Can I see it please? she asked nicely, secretly steering the topic.

He did as asked and changed his eyes to their supernatural form, which is a bright blue, like a glow. Heaven inched closer, entranced by his eyes as their connection fizzled to life.

Zeke lifted his hand and caressed her cheeks, his eyes flickering to her lips as he also moved closer.

Upon realizing his intentions, Heaven broke free from the trance and moved backed carefully. Gvazg, we almost kissed! Retvaz déerisk! A kiss would make the connection stronger, one she cant risk while he doesnt know the truth yet.

Sorry, I didnt mean to startle you. He apologized.

It is fine. I was mesmerized by your eyes. She said with a bit of an accent.

I can hear a bit of your accent now. He gently took her right hand, the one with the masking ring, as he stared at her.

I smelled your blood earlier, he stated, I wish I could smell you fully. Our bond wouldnt start developing at all if you keep wearing that even while Im with you.
