*Veronica's POV*
My so-called family never really knows where to go on our summer breaks. Sometimes we go to Santa Cruz and most of the time we visit my or their abuela y Tia's house. Now it feels like all of it was just not real.
It's definitely different now that Camila knows more about me.
"Cami." I gasped as I, the boys, Max, and Jake stood stunned that Camila had came in.
"You're not from here?" She asked.
"Camila, it's not what it looks like."
"Sadly, it is." Vince mumbled. Vince really never has good timing for anything.
"Seriously, Vince?" Andy asked in a whisper.
"What it looks like, is that you have been lying to me about everything! You even let these bozos in on it?!" Camila asked, furiously.
"Who are you calling bozos?" Adrian argued, sounding insulted.
"Guys, not now!" I shouted at them as Camila just scoffed and ran out of the library.
"Camila!" I called out and packed up my stuff to run after her.
"Camila!" I continued to and soon found Camila on the right side of mine walking out into the blacktop.
"Camila, wait please!" I begged.
She finally stopped and turned back to me. "I thought we told each other everything, Veronica?!"
I felt more saddened by her asking me that. We really did tell each other everything. We trusted each other more with anything than anyone in our family.
"I couldn't tell you about this. Especially about stuff like this."
"Why?" She asked, more calmly and softly. Her eyes filled with anger had gone away, now betrayal and sadness was showing.
"Clearly, this whole 'magic' thing has been your whole life now."
I decided to stay calm and say with a firm tone. "I just didn't want you to get hurt, Camila."
"We've always gone through the worst together, Veronica!" Camila mentioned. "We've gotten hurt in our family. With Mommy, Eliana, which I guess aren't even your family either."
I didn't think my heart could sink so low. But Camila mentioning her family made it happen. "Are you going to tell them?" I asked.
She scoffed with shock. "That's what you're worried about?!" Actually yeah.
"Veronica, we are supposed to be sisters! Nearly twins for crying out loud! We don't keep secrets from each other! We never have."
"Even though we never had, this secret had to be kept from you and mommy and everyone else."
"Oh, so you are still thinking of them as family?" She had a sad smile with a tear going down her cheek. I didn't know. I didn't know how to answer that. She doesn't know how I truly feel about them or her. She really got me speechless.
Camila sniffled and wiped her tear. "You know what? I should tell them, but I won't, only on one condition."
I rolled my eyes. "What?"
"You get me involved in whatever the hell this whole thing is." A smirk came upon her red teary face.
"Cami!" I groaned. "It's too dangerous!"
"I get to choose if I want to get involved in whatever it is you really do. You don't get to anymore, if you want our 'family' to blow up like it usually does?"
