Toni.
You know those moments when you wake up and your body feels stiff, because of how much sleep you just got? That's how I feel right now. My eyes feel like they're glued together when I try to open them. I finally start to see some light, and I can hear voices coming through the living room and kitchen area.
So I prop myself up on my elbows and I see the empty couch where Daniel slept. He's not there and the blanket is folded. I look at my phone and it's 10:16 in the morning. I definitely overslept.
I get up a little too quickly, my head spins for a moment as I walk towards the bathroom. I splash some water on my face and quickly brush my teeth.
I slowly open the bedroom's door and the sunlight is a little too strong for my eyes, it takes me a second to adjust. I see Daniel in comfortable clothes, and he's already smiling at me.
"Buenos dias, señorita." Daniel grins in my direction, I can tell he feels so proud of himself every time he says even a word in Spanish. I can't help but feel butterflies in my chest, it's getting annoying.
I straighten up as I see the guys having breakfast and some of them are chilling on the couch.
"Good morning, everyone." I announce in a groggy voice, so I clear my throat and start to make my way to the kitchen. Daniel follows me with his gaze, while he holds his cup of coffee. I open up a cabinet to get a cup, but I only find wine glasses, but suddenly Daniel is behind me opening another cabinet, almost putting his arm around me.
"Here you go." He kind of whispers. I just look up at him with a courteous smile, very British of me. Then I go ahead and get some hot water and I find a little tea box next to the coffee machine.
"Hey, here's some fruit and protein pancakes if you want some." Michael pops up by my side and points to the table. It all looks so good, so I do help myself to a couple pancakes and some berries.
Daniel is unusually quiet and he seems kind of dazed, it's freaking me out, but I eat my breakfast in silence, with occasional small talk with Michael.
"Hey, when you're done let's go on a nature walk." Daniel suddenly says as I'm dipping the last couple of blueberries in leftover maple syrup. He even startled me a little bit, because he was just staring out the window, minding his own business.
I nod at him, cause my mouth is full. I'm still kind of wondering what he's thinking about this nature walk he wants to take me on. Because I do not like nature, and there are better things I could do than walk. But I'm honestly hoping it's only the two of us and that the guys don't tag along.
So I quickly clean my plates, and then slow myself again, I don't want to seem too eager, even though I'm looking forward to spending time with him.
I go back to Daniel's room and change into some biker shorts that I packed for lazy days, or for any day that I decide to be active. And it's a good day to throw on my Rolling Stones t-shirt, it was dad's a couple years ago and I stole it from his closet one night I stayed over at his place. I also put on my sneakers and apply a layer of sunblock on the high points of my face. Here goes nothing.
