Lately I've been listening,
to three friends around me
Watching how they change in
Such a way where their
Presence grounds me
To the surface
Even if they were to physically leave,
Even when I won't be able to see them as much
I'd still feel their presence
From where they were not too long ago
I just know that when they leave,
Many will miss them,
Even if they don't say it verbatim
In between the lines,
You can hear them whisper
"Don't leave"
As their voice escalates to a higher volume
Asking, "what are you going to do in life?
What if you can't do it?"
At the end of the day, I want them to know
That they can do it
That they can go towards a different path when you know
The current path you are in hasn't been treating
You right
When you want to find something
That won't make you dread waking up in the morning
When people have been taking you for granted
In your amazing abilities that you use to make their lives easier
I want you to know that you
Can go chase what you choose
To want to do in life that preserves your well-being
Don't think about the doubts that other people tell you
They're not you.
