"Are you sitting with Jaye today?"
We're in the cafeteria grabbing our lunches. The place is crowded with rowdy students, each trying to get their food as quickly as they can.
Searching the room I look for Jaye across the sea of bodies. I notice him in the far corner with his obnoxious friend Knox. Shit! I really don't want to have to deal with Knox right now. I explained the situation to Chaz on our way to the cafeteria. He didn't seem to happy about any of it.
Chaz and I walk over to where they're both seated. I take a seat next to Jaye sliding beside him ignoring Knox. Chaz takes a seat on the other side of Jaye. Their friendship is still a bit rocky. I don't think Jaye trusts Chaz is the slightest. I'm hoping that maybe if they get to spend enough time around each other that they will become closer eventually. I don't want to lose Chaz's friendship just because I was lucky enough to find my mate. I just can't let that happen.
"Hey baby." I love it when he uses that term of endearment. My cheeks turn red flushed with embarrassment. His eyes capture mine as he runs his hand across my thigh. He makes me feel so special and wanted. I never thought I'd get so damn lucky.
"Hey." I reply back to him softly, I notice Kayleen and Riley sliding in a seat next to Knox. Smiling in their direction, I go back to focusing on my food. Remembering mine and Knox's conversation from earlier.
"So when do you want to do it?" He looks taken aback just for second but quickly recovers. His eyes latch onto Jayes showing worry to my question. Which confuses me.
"Anytime you are." I nod my head at him, not really wanting to talk to him in the first place.
"Do what?" Jaye ask him, I see anger flashing in his eyes. I don't want him to be upset over this, because it doesn't bother me that Knox wants me to reject him.
"To reject me." Those three words has everyone at the table gasping. It's very uncommon for someone to reject their mate. Knowing it causes the other to become deathly ill almost wishing for death itself. But I will take it on to give us both exactly what we want.
"You're joking right?" Jaye breaks the silence while everyone is eyeing us. I feel a little apprehensive from all of their stares.
"It's fine Jaye, I'll be ok." Trying to assure him that I'm one hundred percent behind this.
"No it's not Promise. You will be putting your health at risk. That's something I won't allow." He's very sexy when he starts acting so possessive. But we have to convince him that this is just the best way.
"Chaz will help me. He already said he would. I will be ok!" I say with determination to him, but Jaye isn't happy with it.
"Look Jaye we've talked about this before. I think it's the best thing to do. For all of us." Knox tells him with a touch of anger laced in his tone. I don't understand where all this animosity is coming from? But if this what he wants I will gladly do it for him. I don't want a mate who doesn't want me in return.
