Chapter 7

CHAPTER SEVEN

A week later...
"Sweets..." V said as she placed a coffee down in front of me.
"Oh, thanks V. This is just what I need. Luca, kept me up all night again. I mean, he's better now, but he's taking a while. You know on getting back to normal. He thinks it's clever wanting to stay up and play with his toys all night. Honestly, I think that I'm gonna have to hide them all. You know just so I can get an hour's sleep."

When I finish, I lift my eyes when I see a dark shadow move passed the café Windows. Only I wish I hadn't because it's him again. I can see the indecision on his face. He's literally lost - probably deciding if he should take the risk of my kicking off with him or walking away. He takes the latter option and walks away.

"How long are you going to keep this up for, sweets?" V asked, and before I answer, I take a sip of my hot drink.
"When I know he can speak to me like I'm a human being. I know you told me he's had it tough, but he seriously can't go on like that. I mean, he's so mean. Bloody hell, was he always like that?"
She sighed, and I watch as her shoulders sag.
"No, he used to be a very polite young man. He had a great job, and a happy, carefree life. That is until she'd broken his heart. She'd had it pretty tough herself. You know before she'd met Nathan. Only I guess he'd helped her. He'd kind of pulled her back from it. You see. She was married to Kayne's cousin. Sadly, he died in a car accident. It almost killed her when she found out. Mars told me he was her King, her one true king. Oh, I've no doubt she'd fallen for Nathan, but that girl... Well, put it this way, she was pretty messed up herself. She was so young. She was so lost. Apparently, she was pregnant with her husband's child. Sadly, she lost that little soul. So she was pretty traumatised by it all. I guess she'd finally come to her senses and came back to Nathan. Yet sadly again, that's when she'd met the same fate as her husband."

"Do you think they'll be together now? Up there I mean, in heaven? Do you think that they'll have found each other again? All three of them back together?" I ask while wiping a stray tear from my eye.

"I don't know. I'd like to think they did. It's just all so tragic. To finally find your soulmate, then to have so much ripped away from you. Only to, pull yourself back just a little when you begin to feel again. Only to lose everything. So yeah, I hope they're back together. At least they'll have finally found their happiness."

I felt bad for Nathan now. It's got to have been tough, right? And now I'm thinking I should tell him he can come back in here. I didn't have the right to ban him, but he was just so rude.

"I'll tell him the ban's lifted. Crap, but if he even looks at me funny V? I swear I will have his balls. Heartbreak or not I won't put up with that kind of crap."
She chuckled but agreed.
"Oh, I've no doubt sweets. I've no doubt, you will."

"Hey, DQ. What's up?" Mars asked as I walk into her studio. I'm looking around just to see if he's in here and when I look at the very back of the room, that's where I find him. His back is facing me and he seems to draw something.

"I-I just need a word," I tell her while nudging my head over to him after I'd turned back to look at her. She pulls an "Ahh" face while silently saying the word. She then swoops her hand toward him giving me the go-ahead. Only I stop and pull back before proceeding.

"Mars, how mad is he? I mean, is he in an approachable mood? Or a get the hell away from me or I'll shove a cupcake up your arse kind of mood?"
This made her chuckle, along with a few of the guys within earshot.
"Well, I've not seen any cupcakes flying around, but as for his mood? Sweets, that is a hard one to pinpoint. I guess just proceed with caution."

Mars chuckled again, and I take a deep breath before I move forward. Once I feel brave enough, I move toward him. Only with every step I take, my heart thuds against my chest. As soon as I get within an inch of him, I see his shoulders tense and then he shivered. It's like my presence makes his skin crawl.
