Addison's POV
You know how when you were a kid and you believed in fairy tales? That fantasy of what your life would be. White dress, Prince Charming, who'd carry you away to a castle on a hill. You'd lie in bed at night and close your eyes, and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close, you could taste them. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. Genevieve hasn't had the opportunity to truly be a child because she's always had to grow up faster than other children. She's had two older foster siblings that took care of her in her earlier years, but that didn't help that my daughter went through unimaginable trauma. Trauma that she most likely won't ever share with us, not wanting us to be burdened by her pain.
"Mommy, are you okay? Your face is all scrunchy." Genevieve asked me while poking my cheeks and I couldn't help but smile at her. Always concerned about others and their wellbeing, never about herself.
"I'm just thinking about some grownup stuff little one. Henry called me earlier today and said he's coming to see you really soon." Henry was coming next week and spending a month with us because his team's on a break. Genevieve squealed in excitement and I couldn't help but smile at her.
"I miss Allie." Genevieve said before I wrapped my arms around her. Allison called me last week and informed me that the reason she wasn't visiting Genevieve is because she's dealing with some serious mental health issues. I offered to get Allison a psychiatrist but she said that her work already got her one. She just wants Genevieve to know that she cares for her but doesn't want her to worry like she knows Genevieve would if she knew.
"I know you do little one. Allison told me that she's seeing a doctor like Lana to help her with her bad memories. But she will come see you and told me how sorry she is for hurting your feelings at the hospital."
"Allie could have told me." Genevieve pointed out to me with an adorable pout on her face.
"Allison just didn't want you to worry about her because she wanted you to focus on yourself." Meredith says before entering the living room and sat down on the couch next to Genevieve.
"If Allie talks to you again, please tell her that I forgive her. I just want to see her." Genevieve tells us before laying her head on my shoulder.

Amelia Shepherd's POV"Mark don't hang Genevieve upside down like that!" Mark was holding Genevieve upside down and she was giggling in delight. Addison and Meredith are out having their date night, so Mark and I are spending time with our niece. Addison explained everything to Mark and I in regards to Genevieve. I wanted to kill Derek for hurting Genevieve and causing her to run away. Mark's feelings on that were extremely worse than mine. He beat the shit out of Derek when we went to Seattle Grace Hospital. If Addison and Meredith didn't adopt Genevieve, I'm sure that Mark would have.
"She's fine Amy. I'm holding onto my sunshine." Mark responded to me before Genevieve vomited on Mark's pants.
"My head feels funny." Genevieve says before Mark places her on the couch and goes to grab some rags to clean her up.
"This is why I told Mark not to hang you upside down." Mark runs into the living room with rags, a bottle of water and fresh pyjamas in his hands. Grabbing the items off him, I wiped Genevieve's face while Mark went to change into a different pair of pants.
"How's your head feeling angel?" I asked Genevieve before changing her into her pyjamas. They were baby blue footie pyjamas with stars and a moon in the middle. Genevieve can change herself but sometimes she needs help and that's where we come in.
"Better Auntie Amelia." Genevieve replied before drinking some of the water. She laid her head on my shoulder and I started playing with her hair.
"What do you want for Christmas, angel?"
"Halloween and Thanksgiving are first Auntie Amelia." Genevieve pointed out to me before I placed a kiss on top of her head.
"I know that Genevieve. Just wanted to plan ahead. So what do you want for Christmas?"
"A doggy." Genevieve responded with a smile on her face.
"I'll see what I can do angel."
