Genevieve's POV

There is a large group of nurses protesting having formed a picket line in front of the hospital. They are chanting 'Fair hours, fair wages!' They're also holding various signs protesting. George and I stand at the end of the picket line looking at it all.

"Can't. Can't, can't cross the picket line. I can not. Dad's a truck driver. Mom's a teacher. The evening news shows me crossing the picket line... they'll outlive me just to pee on my grave." George tells me before I walk over to where the nurses are, handing them coffee and donuts.

"I will talk to Dr. Webber. Can you please let my friends and family pass?"

"Yeah they can, but no promises for Stevens." Olivia tells me as Mama and Cristina pass them and enter the hospital. Izzie starts walking towards the entrance when the nurses begin throwing food at her and Olivia pulls me into the picket line so I don't get food on my clothes.

"Change your own bed pan Stevens!" Olivia shouts at Izzie while I covered my ears to dull the noise.

"Yeah, enjoy your retard Olivia." Izzie says before running into the hospital and I give Olivia a smile before entering the hospital.

"Hi Patricia. Would you like some help with these files?" I asked the older woman who's showing around temp nurses.

"Thank you dear. Just file them accordingly and I'll look at them later." Patricia says before handing me the files and I begin getting to work on sorting the files. Sophie and Preston walked over to where I'm sorting the files.

"This is hell! If Richard actually listened to their demands and found a compromise, this wouldn't be happening!" Sophie says to Preston.

"You sound like a nurse Soph." Preston chides gently.

"I was one to pay for the rest of my years of medical school. Does Genevieve always sort the files?" Sophie says before smiling at me.

"She does sometimes to help the nurses here." Preston explains when Derek walks over to us and glares at me before looking at Sophie.

"Knew you had to be a nurse once because nobody gets upset over stupid demands unless they're a nurse." Derek says and I glare at him.

"They do most of the work while you operate and get the credit. Nurses actually take the time to get to know their patients Derek. Badmouth nurses again and I will get Alex to kick your butt." Sophie hugs me when Patricia walks over to us.

"You know why I stopped being a nurse? Doctors who don't know how to pitch in and Genevieve who pitches in too much. Thank you sweet girl." Patricia says, stating the last part of her statement towards me before walking away. Dr. Webber walks over to us and Sophie glares at him.

"This place is going to hell! Genevieve shouldn't have to volunteer to sort files while the rest of you are on your asses! I was a nurse and I know that unless you at least compromise with them, you will lose them for good. And Dr. Shepherd, learn to respect nurses or I'll make your life a living hell. Come on Genevieve, let's leave these men and grab some breakfast." Sophie says before the two of us walk away.
