Never Meant To Be | Ruikasa

part 3

Tsukasa didn't feel like getting up to throw away the petals this time. Instead, he turned off his phone and started to doze off. A while later, he fell asleep.

"Hey Tsukasa, wanna go out on a date?" Rui asked.

"Huh? I thought you were dating Nene," I said,  confused.

"What do you mean? Anyways, yes or no?"

"Yea..."

Rui took Tsukasa to a small cafe. It was the perfect weather, perfect time, perfect place, with the perfect person. Maybe a little too perfect. . .

Rui ordered them milkshakes. Tsukasa felt happy. Maybe he was just daydreaming during school, and Rui really did like him instead of Nene.

"Tsukasa, you like me, right?" Rui asked.

"I really do," Tsukasa smiled, placing his hand on Rui's.

"Well, that's too bad," Rui sighed while smiling sadly.

"This is the dream, isn't it?"

". . ."

". . . . kasa!" a voice echoed.

Crack

"Tsu . . ."

Everything kept cracking. Even Rui.

I don't want to wake up, Tsukasa thought, Why can't I just stay here forever?!

"Tsukasa, wake up!"

Everything in his dream broke. Leaving him in a dark void.

Tsukasa opened his eyes. He sat up and saw Saki standing next to him. However, she looked scared.

"Is something wrong?" Tsukasa asked in a sleepy voice.

She pointed to the bed, so Tsukasa turned his head to see what happened.

Shoot.

There were a bunch of bloodied rose petals all over his bed.

"I got home and came to check up on you because mom said you weren't feeling well, but when I came in, you were coughing up these petals! That's why I woke you up," Saki said worriedly.

"It's okay, I'm fine. Just don't tell mom," I sighed.

"I just heard it all," their mom said while coming into the room. "I'm going to set up a doctor's appointment for you tomorrow."

"No!" Tsukasa yelled, "I can't go to the doctors tomorrow, I have to perform with my group at the show. I can't just miss it! If I did, I'd just let everyone down... How about we push it back to the day after tomorrow?"

"Fine, but if you start sounding horrible, I'm taking you to the ER," she sighed.

She then left his room, leaving only Saki and Tsukasa in there.

Tsukasa layed back down on his bed. Saki silent walked out of the room and closed the door.

He did nothing for the rest of the day except lay in his bed. No one bothered him. Tsukasa did cough quite a bit as well.

He couldn't sleep during the night. His throat was a little sore from all the coughing, and he wasn't really tired. Tsukasa did take a nap when he got home, so it wasn't surprising.

He ended up staying awake all night. Soon, it was time to go to rehearsals.
