░▒▓█►─═ ═─◄█▓▒░"See you later," Rui waved back.
Tsukasa walked into his house and it was surprisingly empty. All of a sudden, Tsukasas mom came out of nowhere.
"Come on Tsukasa. I don't want to be late for your appointment," she said, grabbing Tsukasas arm and dragging him to the car.
"But I thought it would be for tomorrow," he replied while shaking of her hand but still continuing to follow her.
"There might not be a tomorrow!" She shouted in an upset voice.
"Oh. . ."
Tsukasas mom got into the driver seat of the car with Tsukasa getting into the passengers seat.
"I'm sorry Tsukasa, I didn't mean to yell. I just don't like the way you sounded while coughing, and coughing up those rose petals made me worry more."
"It's fine mom," Tsukasa reassured her.
During the appointment, Tsukasa told the doctor his symptoms and when they started.
"So it's only been 3 days since you've started having these symptoms, and today you've started coughing up the flower buds as well?" The doctor, Dr. Jommerry, asked.
"Yes sir," Tsukasa answered.
"No to pry, but do you have someone you like, and if you do, do they like you back?" Dr. Jommerry asked while typing something on his computer.
"Uhm yea, but he has a partner already."
"I don't see why this is important," his mom interrupted.
"Well Ms.Tenma, your son has this disease called Hanahaki. To put this in words you can understand, Tsukasa is coughing up flowers because his 'crush' does not like him. There is a rose bush growing inside Tsukasa's lungs due to this. However, unlike ordinary patients of this disease, Tsukasa is going through the stages extremely quickly."
"Is there a way to get rid of it?" Tsukasa asked.
"Well," Dr. Jommerry started, "There are two ways to stop it. One: your crush proves he loves you back. Or two: you get surgery. Since your crush is already dating someone, it'd be best for you to get the surgery."
"What if I don't?"
"If you don't get the surgery, and your 'crush' doesn't love you back, you'll die."
"He'll do the surgery," his mom said.
"Okay we can get that appointment set up for tomorrow. Oh and just so you know, after the surgery, you'll most likely loose all feeling and memories of your loved one. I'll be right back to get some papers, then you'll be able to leave." Dr. Jommerry left the room.
"No. . . I can't do the surgery, I don't want to forget Rui!"
"Tsukasa it's for your own good. Plus, you'll still be able to be a star," she added.
"I-"
"Tsukasa please. You don't want to make your sister sad. You know how upset she'd be if she knew you died?"
"But-"
"Tsukasa."
"Fine."
The doctor cane back and handed them the papers and let Tsukasa and his mom leave.
At home, Tsukasa called Rui.
"So what did the doctors say?" Rui asked.
"I have a disease due to unrequited love," Tsukasa answered.
"Oh, is there a cure?"
"Yea. It's either y- uhm the girl likes me back or surgery. I don't think I have a chance with the girl though, she has a boyfriend already. Uh, you don't know her though she's in my classes."
"What happens if you don't do any?" Rui asked ignoring Tsukasas stutter.
"Uhm well, I'd die. So I'm getting the surgery tomorrow."
"Well that's good. I hope you feel better."
"Yea... Thanks. Yeah, I uh have to go. I'm kinda busy, but yeah I'll talk to you later."
"Oh um bye," Rui said.
"Bye," Tsukasa hung up. ". . . What am I gonna do?" Tsukasa sighed dropping onto his bed. I can't get the surgery. I can't forget Rui. I'd rather die! He thought.
Then he started to cough again. He sat up as the rose buds littered his bed.
I would die if I don't get the surgery...
Tsukasa gathered the rose buds he had coughed up and stared at them.
Why is this happening to me, he started to cry, I don't want to die. I don't want to forget anyone. Why can't I just have a normal life?
Tsukasa dropped the rose buds and layed back down.
I just want to be happy. . .
Later at night, Tsukasa decided to leave the house. He wouldn't be able to have the surgery if he wasn't there.
He put a hoodie on and left grabbed his phone and wallet. He also turned off his location. As long as he makes it pass 8 AM, he won't have to have the surgery.
After a few hours of walking around the city, the sun started to rise. It felt nice outside.
Time passed and Tsukasa sat at a Cafe. He played games on his phone, ignoring all the phone calls, and ordered a coffee.
Soon, it hit 8. That means, he should be at the hospital for surgery. Luckily, he isn't, and hasn't, been caught, yet.
Another hour passes and Tsukasa is bombarded with a buch of missed calls and angry texts. He ignores them of course. He coughs more frequently, too.
However, he can't stop regretting his decision. He knows he's being selfish, but why doesn't he get to chose what he wants? Why is someone else making these life or death decisions for him? It's not right. Everyone gets to be selfish sometimes, so why can't Tsukasa?
That's all he can think about.
I just want this day to be over, Tsukasa sighs, slouching in the chair. Sitting there, he stared at the mini clock on his phone, watching the second hand move around the circle.
The time hits 3pm.
Tsukasas mom is going to be furious when he gets home. After checking the gps on his phone, he knows it'll take a hour and a half for him to walk home. To make it worse, it started to pour an hour or so earlier. He will be in trouble and soaking wet when he gets home.
He sighs and gets up to leave the Cafe.
. . .
It's going to be quite the walk.
Sorry for the wait on this chapter! I promise to post the next chapter soon so stay tuned! Thanks for the support!!
