It's hard to breathe. I'm kind of happy, I guess.
I shift my body to face the door. I start coughing again, but this time it doesn't stop.
I sit up as more and more roses fall from my mouth. After a minute, I finally stop and gasp for air. My head started pounding and I couldn't take it anymore.
I reached for the doorknob but instead fell off my bed from the next coughing spell that arrived. This one didn't end. I curled up on the floor with my hands on my throat. Everything was getting blurry as I couldn't even hear my own breathing.
"Tsukasa!" a muffled voice called out. It was familiar, not Mom's or Saki's. It was definitely a male, unless my ears are failing me. "I'm going to come in!" the voice called out again.
Don't come in is what I wanted to say, however, I wouldn't stop coughing.
The door opened and the light from the hallway lit up my room.
I could hear someone panicking once they saw me. I looked around but I couldn't tell what was happening. My vision kept getting blurry and my eyelids started to feel heavy. The coughing slowly stopped, but I could hardly breathe.
I'm gonna die while someone I probably know is watching. Maybe I should've got the surgery...
I tried to focus on breathing. I soon felt hands pick me up, I could tell I was being moved somewhere. Maybe my grave?
I closed my eyes for a few seconds and when I opened them, the scenery changed.
Are we in the car? I started to cough again as someone's muffled voice kept speaking. Maybe they were reassuring me? Looking up at the persons face, I tried making out who it was.
Purple hair? Maybe Rui? No, I yelled at him earlier and it could be the lighting. Probably Toya...
Everything started moving slower, I felt tired and closed my eyes once again.
...
Tsukasa closed his eyes. Making Rui worry. Did he die? No, we are almost at the hospital. He can still make it.
"Mrs. Tenma, are we almost there?" Rui asked in a shaky voice.
"Y-yea," Mrs. Tenma mumbled.
The car pulled into the parking lot of the ER and his mom quickly went inside the hosipital to ask for help. The reason they drove to the hospital was because no ambulances were available.
Rui held Tsukasa in his arms while waiting for the Paramedics. Rui stared at Tsukasa for a while. The coughing seemed to stop, but something didn't feel right...
Just then, Tsukasa was taken from Rui.
He was taken away too quickly.
Everything was happening too quickly.
Tsukasa was rushed into the hospital and Rui followed Tsukasas mom in.
They went to the waiting room. It was silent. Awkwardly silent. Rui, sitting with his crush's mom and barely even spoken with her beforehand, is silent.
He cupped his face with his hands, taking in a deep breath and slowly letting it out.
A while later, the doctor came out and talked with Tsukasa's mom.
Rui felt sick to his stomach. He wanted to know the conversation but he could only hear mumbles.
Mrs. Tenma walked over to Rui and asked, "Rui I have to go to work, it's an emergency and they won't let me stay. Could you stay here until Tsukasa wakes up and tell him what's happened? You don't have to if you dont want to."
"Oh, don't worry. I'll stay. If anything happens, I'll tell you," Rui smiled.
"Thank you! I'll be back as soon as I can."
Mrs. Tenma left and Rui just awkwardly sat there watching her leave.
After a while, he got up and purchased a drink from the closest vending machine. It was cold, but refreshing. It was good enough to get his mind off things.
It'd be good for him to get a minute to himself.
He walked back to the waiting and saw a doctor, Dr. Bones, waiting for him.
"Is everything all right?" Rui asked, walking up to Dr. Bones.
"Yes. The surgery went just fine. If you had brought him here any later he would have died. Tsukasa is currently sleeping , but you can go in there and wait for him to wake up," Dr. Bones answered.
Rui smiled in relief as he thanked the doctor who took him to the new room Tsukasa was in.
Tsukasa was peacefully laying on the hospital bed, breathing in and out, sleeping soundly.
Just looking at him alive and well brought joy to Rui's heart.
He sat down in a chair close to the bed.
He felt so happy that he couldn't stop smiling. However, it had been an exhausting day. Rui could barely hold his eyes open, drifting off to sleep.
...
What happened? Where am I?
Tsukasa sits up and looks around the hospital room. Looks pretty normal other than the random guy in the room.
Wait.
Random guy..?
Why is there a random guy in his hospital room?
He's never seen this guy, ever. He definitely didn't forget him. Someone with vibrant purple hair and blue streaks would not have been forgotten. This guy's too... Unique.
Tsukasa wanted to wake the guy up, however, he felt like something was stuck in his throat.
COUGH COUGH
It was nothing.
Hm...
The coughing woke up the strange man. Tsukasa stared as the golden spheres were slowly revealed.
"Tsukasa, your awake," the man smiled.
"Of course I Tsukasa Tenma, the worlds greatest future star, is awake," Tsukasa shouted in his awfully loud and confident tone which started to go down into a confused and nervous laugh,
"aha, anyways uh, who are you?"
