The third generation was thrilled when they were allowed to attend the party the town was holding, especially Mirabel. It took a while for her to convince her mother to let her go.
Abuela has now eased up and have decided they were allowed to go, though she was on her daughter's side of not letting her youngest nieta go.
Julieta and Pepa had come in and gone to one of the table in the far corner, away from everyone, including their niños whilst Agustín and Félix had gone to get their drinks.
Isabela had gone straight to the drinks once she arrived, not gone drunk but tipsy. Yet.
Luisa was on one of the table, talking to some of the girls her age. She finally got to after 15 years of hard work and no social time.
Dolores and Mariano was sat at another table, Dolores with a tall glass of water, her ear plugs in, ear muffs on the side in case. They had come a little after the rest of the Madrigals and Mariano held her hand and pulled out a chair for her and then sat down next to his wife.
Dolores may be only a few weeks pregnant but Mariano acted like she was already 9 months. Married only last month, pregnant just before Christmas. It was definitely a surprise for everyone, especially her parents, most definitely Pepa who couldn't stop the raining cloud and the big bright rainbows.
And then there was Camilo at the dance floor with his girlfriend Sofía and Mirabel, laughing like music to everyone's ears. Carlos at the big outdoor bar with his girlfriend, María, both with their glass of non-alcoholic punch.
This was nice. A nice change once in a while. A real change from their life before. They all were happy tonight. Isabela had met a girl, Elena, who seemed to enjoy this party as much as she did, just having less drinks than Isa. Luisa finally coming out of her shell later, talking to the girls. Dolores meeting some of her husband's friend, who work outside of Encanto, with Abuela's permission of course.
Camilo and Carlos spending time with their novias with Antonio, Bruno and Abuela at home, not liking the loud noise.
"Enjoying it?" A low whisper called out to Mirabel, disturbing her little daydream, as she slow danced with her best friend, Mateo, her head on his shoulder. She nodded into his shoulder, not noticing the glares sent by Isabela to Mateo whilst she danced with Elena.
"Hmmm." She agreed, as the song slowly came to an end and back to the loud music. Mateo grabbed her hand and twirled her around twice, catching her by surprise before he caught her by the waist. They looked into each other's eyes. Mateo wriggled his eyebrows and open his mouth to say something but suddenly...
"Mirabel, Mirabel." 2 loud voices shouted as they push through the crowd of people. 2 young girls threw themselves at Mirabel, ignoring their older brother gaping face.
"Emilia, Aurora. How are mis pequeñas alborotadoras (my little troublemakers)?" Mirabel asked 5 year old Emilia and 4 year old Aurora, Mateo younger sisters. She picked them up, holding one in each arm.
"Muy bien." Emilia squealed, wrapping her small arms around Mirabel's neck with her sister.
"How bout we leave poor Mirabel and say hi to your big ol' brother instead?" Mateo said, smiling. Emilia and Aurora pulled away from Mirabel, slightly, and glared at their older brother, definitely from their mother's.
"Nope. You're too old." Aurora retorted, causing Mateo to dramatically gasp as he grabbed his youngest sister from Mirabel's arms and tickled her, her laughter echoing, not that anyone else heard due to the loud music and people.
"Okay, por favor, stop, por favor." Aurora giggled as Mirabel and Emilia watched Mateo held his sister in his arms, both with wide smiles.
"I'm gonna go get something to drink." Mirabel told Mateo as she placed Emilia in his other arm, Mateo shaking his head and the two girl pouting.
