CHAPTER 15: LEVI IN THE RAIN

It's a bright and sunny day. I pack my things, preparing to leave Neji's house, and finish up just as Levi arrives, ringing the doorbell courteously. Neji answers the door with a smile on his face.

"Take good care of Y/N," he tells Levi, "She is precious to me."
I get a bit flustered as he says this but then leave with Levi after he assures Neji that no harm will come to me under his protection. Once we're a block or so away from Neji's house, Levi glances over at me.

"I actually have something planned for today," he states, "I've decided to teach you how to use omni-directional mobility gear. As you may know, there are all sorts of creatures roaming around this place. Hopefully you'll never have to face one alone, but if you do, I'll rest easier knowing that you can defend yourself."
I'm a little worried as to what training regimen he may put me through, but I can't help but feel comforted at his concern.

"Don't complain, please," he mutters, "It's your fault for making me care about you so much..."
I become noticeably flustered at his words.

"I-I'm not complaining!" I insist, "I'm actually grateful. Thank you for everything."
Since the day I arrived at AHS, Levi has stuck up for me, even when one of his closest friends was the one picking a fight. And so, between that indisputable trait, his handsome face, and his impressive strength, I can't help but be attracted to him, even though he's on the short side.

I follow Levi all the way to a thick wood behind his house, where there is a home-made training camp set up. He takes his work in the survey corps very seriously, it seems.

"This is impressive!" I remark, "Did you build this all by yourself?"
He nods a single time as he bends down to retrieve something from a large wooden box.

"Yes, I did. Now, put this on."
He presents to me the infamous ODM gear, which I recognize and remember as being in Attack on Titan.

I can't believe I'm seriously about to use this thing!
"It will be hard for you," he states plainly, "You will lose your balance and fall over. But you cannot allow yourself to fail, Y/N. You need to do this, for your own safety!"
I gasp as he cups my cheeks in his warm hands.

"I cannot lose you, understand?"
I lose myself in his fierce eyes momentarily before snapping myself out of it.

"Yes, Levi, I understand."

———

Levi graciously teaches me all the ins and outs of using ODM gear. And, after his long-winded explanation, I simply attempt to keep my balance with it on, at which I fail multiple times before beginning to find even a hint of stability. But once I do, I'm able to improve with every attempt, until at long last, I'm able to maintain my upright position indefinitely. Levi, impressed that a commoner like me is actually able to do it, then informs me that it's time to move onto the next step. And so, a little while later, I end up swinging from tree to tree, frightened as I make my way around the wood on his property. But, much to my surprise, I don't fall. There are a few instances where I may trip a little, but I'm able to rest easy knowing that Levi had promised to interfere if anything life-threatening occurs.

And soon, the activity becomes sort of enjoyable. It reminds me of when Tengen had carried me on his back. I'm flying through the sky, free as a bird. Well, that is, until my muscles completely give out on me and I'm forced to return to the ground due to fatigue.

I land harshly upon the earth, rolling a bit as I lose my balance from the uncontrolled impact.

"Ow..." I groan as I try to pick myself up.

Levi kindly offers a hand, pulling me to my feet, brushing with both hands the dirt from my shoulders.

"You did a good job," he assures me, "Especially since you've never done this before."
I remove my ODM gear and hand it back to him. The sun should be setting by now, but it's hidden behind thick clouds.

Before I know it, lightning flashes over head, followed by booming thunder and a downpour of raindrops.

I hold a hand out to collect some, looking up at the sky. But then, as I feel Levi's eyes on me, I can't help but return the stare.

The two of us just stand there, gazing at one another. As the rain continues to fall, Levi's white shirt begins to stick to his skin, causing it to become see-through. His beautifully sculpted chest is revealed to me and I swallow hard, trying to push perverted thoughts from my mind.

Water drips down his hair and caresses his face, deeming him even more attractive than before.

"L-Levi..." I stutter, "Why do you care about me so much? I mean, you took time out of your day just to help me out!"
I nearly stop breathing as he approaches me, glancing hungrily into my eyes.

"Why do you think?" He whispers.

Before I can even think of an answer, he's already pulling me into a passionate kiss. The raindrops make our lips wet as they cuddle together.

He kisses roughly... Not that I'm surprised.

Even as the storm becomes more intense, he refuses to break contact with me, kissing me passionately until the thunder becomes so loud that it's literally shaking the ground we're standing on.

He releases me and grabs my hand, pulling me indoors without saying a word. But as soon as we get inside, he presses me against the wall and continues where we left off, smashing his lips into mine a second time.

For a moment, it seems like the kiss is never going to stop... not that I'm complaining. But once he notices how out of breath I am, he forces himself off of me, inhaling and exhaling heavily.

"Sorry, Y/N," he murmurs, "I went too far, didn't I?"

Memories of his touch are imprinted onto my lips, as though he's still kissing me right at this moment.

This is insane... Levi has feelings for me just like the others do...

"N-no, it was great," I respond, causing him to smirk a little bit, "Trust me, I didn't mind at all."
That's the honest truth. I can't help but enjoy all of these gorgeous men doting on me and wanting for me. Levi's kiss, however, was a bit different from the others'. It was lustful. And I can't help but wonder what would have happened if things had gone farther...

"Hey, Levi," I speak up softly, "I just want to say I appreciate you always having my back. Like on the first day of school, when you told Eren to quit being so mean to me. You're a really great guy."
I lean into him and plant a soft kiss on his cheek, both of us blushing softly as I pull away.

"Like I said, Y/N," he murmurs, "I'll always keep you safe, whether that be physically or emotionally."
Levi clears his throat audibly and instructs me to follow him to the kitchen. I take a seat at the table as he begins to whip up some dinner.

The two of us engage in an entertaining conversation for the rest of the evening, opening up to one another and becoming more comfortable with one another.

Before either of us realizes it, it's already time to sleep seeing as tomorrow is Monday, meaning we have school to attend.

But before we say goodnight, he plants one more light kiss onto my lips. This time, it's sweeter than before——innocent, almost.

I truly feel like the two of us became closer today... in more ways than one, of course.
