The rain came down in blinding sheets, stinging Aemma's face.

"What's going to happen?" Luke asked as Arrax struggled to fly in the rain, his little wings propelling them forward.

"I don't know! Can you see-" Aemma's words were cut off with a shriek as Vhagar flew over them, so close Aemma and Luke had to duck to avoid her swinging tail. Aemma could hear Aemond as he brought Vhagar around once more. Aemma could hear the low, guttural growl of Vhagar lurking around somewhere, but the rain was too heavy to see anything.

"Above us!" Aemma's heart filled with terror as the massive shadow of Vhagar rose above them. Aemma wished she wasn't so stupid, leaving Terrax in Kings Landing just signed her and Luke's death sentence. "Aemond, stop! Please!" Aemma screamed into the darkness.

Vhagar flew in front of Arrax, who narrowly escaped colliding head-on with the massive dragon. Aemma could hear Aemond's haunting laugh once more.

Aemma let out a scream as Vhagar approached from behind, her jaws open. Vhagar was so close, Aemma could count all the teeth in her mouth. Vhagar snapped her jaws shut, narrowly missing Arrax.

"Stop! I'm begging you!" She cried out but to no avail, Aemond kept shouting orders to Vhagar, who followed them happily.

"Descend, Arrax! Quickly!" Luke ordered. Arrax descended in a rush to get away from the monster that was chasing them. Aemma buried her face in Luke's back, terrified of the sound of Vhagar behind them. "Quickly, turn!" Arrax did as commanded, and Luke steered him to a gorge between two cliffs.

"Vhagar won't fit in here!" Luke said, trying to bring some form of comfort to his sister. He was terrified, but so was she, and he knew he had to keep a level head.

"Look up!" Aemma saw the outline of Vhagar, flying over the gorge. As they exited, Arrax began to fly on his own accord.

"Arrax, serve! Obey!" Luke pulled on the reins, but Arrax pulled back.

"You owe a debt!" Aemond called out into the darkness. "Boy!" He taunted.

Arrax spewed fire at Vhagar's face before flying up, attempting to rise above the storm.

"No, Arrax!" Aemma called out.

"No, serve me Arrax! Serve, obey!" Luke cried out.

"No! No, no, no, no! Stop! Serve me Vhagar, serve me!" Aemond cried out as Vhagar roared and began to follow the small dragon. He had never lost control before, and it terrified him. Vhagar was going to kill them, and it was all Aemond's fault.

"Get above the storm!" Aemma called out. She held her breath until Arrax broke through the clouds. The wind stopped, and it was peaceful. Aemma caught her breath, wrapping her arms around Luke in a fierce hug.

"Look at me, Aemma. We're safe, it's okay. Look at me!" Luke said, twisting around in the saddle to face his little sister. Aemma stared at Luke wide-eyed, her heart racing. Luke saw Vhagar rise up from the clouds, her jaws open.

"I love you," Luke whispered, holding his sister close. Vhagar destroyed Arrax's head in a single bite, killing him instantly. Aemma screamed as she felt her and Luke fall from the saddle, the grey clouds below them rushing up to meet them.

"No, Vhagar!" Aemond screamed as he watched his love's body drop down into the clouds. He turned to look at his dragon, who simply kept flying.

Luke screamed in pain as his body collided with the water, his arms still wrapped around Aemma. As he opened his mouth, water rushed in, choking him. Luke grabbed Aemma's arm with one hand as he clawed his way to the surface, his lungs screaming and bones shattered.

His vision was fading, but he had to save Aemma. She was limp in his grasp, threatening to sink down to the bottom of Shipbreaker Bay. Luke would sink with her if he could not save her.

Luke gasped as his head broke through, dragging Aemma up with him. Whether she was dead or unconscious, Luke did not know, but he knew he would either save her or throw himself back into the ocean to join her. The waves crashed violently, and Luke was barely able to stay afloat, but he slowly managed to crawl towards the land.

Luke prayed to any god that would listen, he prayed to the gods he knew, and the gods he didn't. He prayed for a strong wave to carry them to land as he felt his arms tire and his strokes slow down. The gods ignored his pleas. Luke was close now; he could make out the trees that lined the beach. Luke glanced back at Aemma, still dragging behind him, and he knew he had to save her.

Luke dragged Aemma through the wet sand until the waves kissed their shoes, and he rolled her over to get a glimpse of her face.

"Aemma?" He asked, shaking her shoulder. He burst out into a fit of coughing, his lungs screaming at every breath of air he sucked in. "Aemma!"

Aemma was still, her face pale, her lips blue, and her chest did not rise or fall. She looked beautiful, even in death. Luke coughed once more, blood coming from his lips as he struggled to breathe. Luke began praying again, not for a wave, or for revenge. He prayed for his sister to live, to have warmth return to her perfect face.

"Take me." He wheezed as he lay on his back, rain battering his face. "Gods, take me!" He begged and prayed for the gods to kill him. He did not care if it was a slow and tortuous death where each breath was agony and the skin peeled from his bones; he only wished for Aemma to live.

"Please!" He was sobbing now, a strangled sound escaping his throat as he choked on his own blood, but he kept repeating his prayers. Luke reached out a weak hand and grabbed Aemma's cold one.

Luke turned his head to the side so that he may gaze upon Aemma's face. Whatever souls were made of, his and Aemma's were the same. As Luke felt his vision fade and his life slip away, he repeated his prayers once more.

"I... love..." Those were the last words Lucerys Velaryon ever spoke, for he died before finishing his sentence.

And for the first time, possibly ever, the gods granted Lucerys Velaryon his wish.

In Kings Landing, nobody slept, for Terrax melted his chains and smashed his way out of the Dragonpit, his roars shaking the city to its foundations as he circled the city, riddled with grief.
