"little" words

it is so odd, how one little thing can change the matter of everything. 

I always wonder how words that are not seen when spoken and are such tiny things have such large and vast impacts. if it were not for those harsh words maybe someone would have continued to live. maybe they would have done great things too. if it were not for such a small thing as words maybe she wouldn't have doubted herself. maybe he would have accomplished everything he dreamed of. maybe, she would have become a great adult if she wasn't killed mentally by all the words people spewed about her. maybe, he would have been a kinder man, if his family hadn't been so harsh with their words to him. maybe he wouldn't have needed to prove that he was a "man" by acting out brutally. maybe, she wouldn't have been so ashamed to ask for help if society hadn't been so quick to call her guilty. maybe, if people had thought about their words cautiously and held back when unnecessary, maybe the world would be a little better. 

maybe, words are not small things after all. maybe everything we think is small is awfully large.
