Adam and I sat at a circular table with my glass half empty and his completely full. I was ready for this night to be over, though it's nice spending time with Adam these people are exhausting. I gave out about 5 business cards but that's all. I couldn't stand being fake for one more second.

"N-Nights almost over" Adam turned to look at me. I glanced at the time "10:45" our night ends at 11. "I guess so" I replied smiling. He returned the smile.

"H-Hey Imani?" He stuttered out. I hummed with my eyebrows raised as if I was answering him. "Do you think you c-could have another suit done by Friday"

I nodded, "Of course, may I ask what for?" He swallowed, "J-Just another boring event" he replied shrugging his shoulders.

I hummed, "You have to go to a lot of these huh?" I said with an ounce of pity. I feel drained by this event alone, I can't imagine how it would feel to go to these constantly.

He sighed, "Y-Yeah". I pouted, "Well you can always call me if you need a plus one" I smiled. Even though this event was tiring I wouldn't mind being with Adam longer.

He smiled back, "But I have to warn you, I may not answer" I joked. He shook his head and chuckled. I liked Adam's laugh; it was so deep and refreshing.

I stared at him just admiring his features for a quick moment..I didn't understand how this man was not married by now. I'm sure any woman would be lucky enough to have him.

His perfect straight teeth that I was so jealous of, his curly ginger colored hair and various freckles. He was so...pretty.

My admiration got disrupted when I felt a hand on mines, Adam pulled my hand giving me the hint to stand up. I looked around to see everyone also standing up and moving around. I guess our time here is finally up.

He led me to the front door with his hand on my back sending chills down my spine. His hand was so big, I felt as if it was perfectly fit for my body specifically. I sat down in the passenger seat watching as he closed my door and made his way to the driver's seat.

The ride home was silent, not an awkward silence though. A peaceful one. There was no need for conversation between us two.
In what felt like 2 seconds I was home.

Though I wanted to be in my bed I would miss being with Adam, he walked me to my door like the gentleman he is. "Well, I guess I'll see you Friday?" I asked hopefully.

"Y-Yeah, Friday" He smiled making me smile. I was contemplating on whether or not to hug him. He's always so nervous and I didn't want to do anything that would make him uncomfortable.

Lost in my thoughts Adam takes me out by placing both hands on my face and slightly lifting up my head to place a gentle kiss on my forehead. He pulled away and gave me a nervous smile.

I smiled embarrassingly hard back, "Bye" I waved as he made his way by to his car. I unlocked my front door and ran to Neveah's room. I still had a big smile on my face indicating that my night went perfectly.

Neveah smiled right back picking up the hint, she patted her bed telling me to sit down without even opening her mouth. I did as I was told, once I was comfortable the words just came spewing out.

About 5 minutes later I was done telling her everything, "That's literally your man" She said trying to drag me into her delusions. "Stop" I said laughing.

I wouldn't mind Adam being 'my man' but I have to be realistic. He's a rich white man who probably wants to be with a skinny white model. If I don't get my hopes up I won't be disappointed!

"No you need to stop. Don't act like you didn't see how he was looking at you" I rolled my eyes. I can't get my hopes up. "Let's just stop talking about it" I said throwing my hands up.

Neveah sighed showing her frustration, "Imani I wish you would stop acting like that". I scrunched my nose, "Like what?"

"Stop acting like you're not gorgeous as fuck. I know what you're thinking, you don't even have to tell me." I didn't reply, I just listened to what she had to say.

"It doesn't matter how much weight you have, you're beautiful. I know that man wants you..YOU know that man wants you. Even if he doesn't you could have literally anyone." I pursed my lips and nodded.

She was right. I had to stop doubting myself and looking for people to validate me. I'm beautiful. Even if no one on this earth agrees, I know I am...
