I push my glasses up as one of my many employees present their pitch, I nod as if i'm listening but honestly I zoned out the minute he opened his mouth. "So boss, what do you think?"
"Huh- Oh yeah I love it." I replied snapping back into reality. I stood up and began clapping, everyone else in the room quickly joined after. While everyone was busy clapping I took the opportunity to slip out of the conference room and into my office.
I sat down in my comfortable office chair and sighed. I leaned back and dozed off once more hoping to forget reality. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my life as it is. I'm the CEO of my own company for fucks sake. But that was just it..a CEO and nothing more.
I had nothing going for me outside of my business. I had no hobbies, no friends, actually I had no type of relationships. I eat, sleep, and breathe work. I often feel lonely, I try not to because the loneliness reminds me of my high school days.
I was a loser in high school, I kinda still am. I had no friends, no hobbies. Nothing's changed since then. Im still the same loser from high school, but rich. Of course people want to be my 'friends' but I feel none of them are genuine.
I have a hard time believing people actually want to be my friend for nothing more than my money and I'm always right. They always want something. The ladies..they haven't changed at all neither.
I'm a 30 year old, 6'2 awkward ginger with glasses. A stubble beard with a few muscles. They all wanted dark haired men with thick builds. Even if I am rich and successful, they still didn't want me.
"Hey boss" I rolled my eyes as my most annoying employe, Thomas walked in. "What did I tell you about not knocking" I scold him. "Forget that!" He says walking to my desk and sitting down comfortably in one of my chairs.
"Boss, I just wanted to check up on you. I've been noticing that you're a little mopier than usual" He frowns. I groan, "Thomas i'm fine. Please mind the business that pays you."
He looks around with a confused face, "But sir, you are the business that pays me" He says with his pointer finger on his chin. I sigh, I set myself up for that one huh.
I sit up straight and look him in the eyes, "Thomas what do you want". He sighs, "Honestly boss? I'm tired of seeing you like this" He nods with a frown on his face.
"So! I wanted to invite you to brunch with me!" He exclaims as I sit there with a straight face. "No."
"Oh please boss! We're both lonely so why not?" He begs. "How do you know i'm lonely?" "Boss respectfully..everyone knows you're lonely" I throw my head back with a groan.
Why am I like this?? Here someone is trying to be my friend and i'm blowing them off. He's right, I am lonely. So why can't I just agree..
"Please boss. Please please please oh please pleaseeeee" He repeats making my ears ring. "F-FINE!" I finally agree. He sits there star-stuck for a moment then smiles. "Thank you boss! You won't regret this." He says getting up from the chair.
I nod then lay my head on my desk patiently waiting for the day to be over..
