"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

It was a quote Y/N had lived by for as long as she could remember. It wasn’t just words it was a principle she had woven into the very fabric of her existence. Healing others, bringing comfort to those in pain, and being the light in someone’s darkest hour this was what made her heart beat.

The world could be cruel, she knew that better than anyone. But it could also be kind, beautiful, and filled with warmth. That warmth existed in the hands that helped, in the voices that reassured, and in the quiet presence of someone who cared.

Y/N had chosen to be one of those people.

And no matter how exhausting, no matter how much it drained her, she never regretted it.

Morning at the Shin Household

"Y/N, sweetheart, are you awake?"

Her mother’s voice drifted up the stairs, soft yet firm, the way only mothers could manage.

Y/N groaned, burying her face deeper into her pillow. Her body ached from exhaustion, the weight of a late-night shift clinging to her muscles like a second skin.

"Five more minutes," she mumbled, already knowing her plea was futile.

"Sweetheart," her mother called again, this time closer. "Your Appa is waiting for you at the table."

Y/N sighed, finally prying her eyes open. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, painting soft golden patterns across her bedroom walls.

Dragging herself up, she glanced at the clock. 7:30 AM.

Damn it.

She had gotten exactly three hours of sleep.

Throwing the blanket off, she forced herself to move, running a hand through her tangled hair before grabbing her phone and bag.

She barely made it downstairs before the scent of warm pancakes, eggs, and freshly brewed coffee filled her senses.

"Good morning, my favorite couple!" Y/N greeted, sliding into her chair.

Mr. and Mrs. Shin chuckled at their daughter’s cheerful greeting. No matter how early the morning, she always had the energy of a chirping bird. Their every day began with this view bright, warm, and full of life.

"Good morning, darling," her mother said, placing a steaming cup of coffee in front of her. She pressed a gentle kiss to Y/N’s forehead before sitting down. "Did you sleep well?"

Y/N hummed noncommittally, taking a sip of the coffee. The warmth spread through her, momentarily soothing the exhaustion clinging to her bones.

Her father, however, was less easily fooled. Folding his newspaper neatly, he leaned back in his chair and fixed her with a knowing look.
