Closing the door behind her, Y/n leaned heavily against the cool surface, tears finally escaping down her cheeks. The raw ache in her chest throbbed with every breath, each of Jungkook’s words replaying in her mind like a haunting melody.
"You know... out of everything that’s happened to me, you’re different. The feelings I get when you’re near... I can’t compare them to anything.”
"I badly wants to know what this is?"
This feeling... it shouldn’t be here.
Y/n never expected him to say something like that, so raw, so vulnerable. She wasn’t oblivious to the meaning behind his words; in fact, she understood all too well. And that understanding was exactly what terrified her the most.
It wasn’t entirely his fault. Somewhere, deep inside, she knew she had played a part in this dangerous dance of emotions. And now, it was up to her to set things right to protect what little control she still had over her heart. Even if it meant building walls around herself and keeping him at arm’s length.
She didn’t know how to place these emotions, but she knew one thing clearly: this wasn’t how it was supposed to be. Not with him. Not now.
The weight of the impossible, the forbidden pressed down on her chest, making it hard to breathe. A part of her wished she could run away from this turmoil, bury the feelings deep where they wouldn’t hurt so much.
I can’t let myself fall into this.
Not when everything screamed that this was a dangerous path, one that could only lead to heartbreak, chaos, and loss.
With a shaky breath, she whispered to the silence around her, “This is wrong... so wrong.”
She bit her lip, fighting to steady her trembling hands. How could she feel this way about him? A man so intense, so dangerous, so impossible to tame. The way his eyes had looked at her moments ago so raw, so full of unspoken emotion had pierced straight through her carefully built walls. That gaze, heavy with something fierce and vulnerable, had unsettled her more than she wanted to admit.
With a heavy sigh, Y/n made a silent vow: no matter how much her heart screamed otherwise, she would maintain her distance. She had to. For both their sakes. Because sometimes, the only way to protect what matters most is to walk away even when it hurts the most.

Evening had settled into the room like a heavy fog. Jungkook sat rigidly before his laptop, the screen’s glow reflecting off his sharp features. Yet, despite the work sprawled before him, his mind was nowhere near the documents and numbers. It was consumed, obsessed with one person.
Why had Y/n acted like that earlier? Did he make her uncomfortable? The questions gnawed at him relentlessly. He couldn’t shake the image of her the way she’d turned away so abruptly, the flicker of vulnerability she tried so hard to hide. It was driving him mad.
A low groan of frustration escaped his lips. Since the incident, her face haunted his thoughts, distracting him with a pull he refused to admit. Restless, agitated, nothing could ease the tightening in his chest except for her presence, her warmth. For once, he just wanted to see her, to be near her, to breathe in the chaos that was uniquely her.
Then, a sharp knock on the door cut through the silence. Without hesitation, Jungkook rose and swung it open, anticipation flaring in his eyes. But the light vanished immediately.
It was Yuna, the maid, standing there with an apologetic look.
“Master, dinner is ready,” she said softly.
