"You have to attend a party with me as my girlfriend."

-----------------------------------------------------------
Y/n was shocked to her core. She turned around like a stiff doll, eyes wide with disbelief. Jungkook didn’t flinch, didn’t blink. He simply stood there, calm and unreadable analyzing her reaction like she was a puzzle.

Y/n blinked, voice trembling.
“W-What did you just say?”

Silence.

Her expression slowly dropped into something cold and emotionless.
“You’re not some circus joker meant to make people laugh, Mr. Jeon. You’re a goddamn mafia. So start acting like one.”

Jungkook sighed, picked up his coffee, and took a slow sip. The relaxed attitude only deepened her panic.

“Mr. Jeon, for both our sanity and the sake of my rapidly dying heart, can you stop speaking in riddles and just say things like a normal person?” she muttered, more to herself than him.

“I don’t care whether you believe me or not,” Jungkook said flatly, not even looking at her. “I don’t have time to babysit your understanding. You want a day off? Accept the deal. Or forget your little break. Your call, Miss Y/n.”

Her head was spinning. Knowing Jungkook, serious, intimidating, cold-blooded Jungkook,he wasn’t joking. Not even a little.

So… he was serious?

No way. This can’t be real.

“Mr. Jeon, what kind of offer is this? You're blatantly crossing the line,” Y/n said, her voice taut with disbelief, her fingers tightening around the file she held like it might anchor her sanity.

Jungkook’s lips twitched, but there was no humor in his smile. Just something slow. Calculated. Dangerous.

He set his mug down with the elegance of a man who knew he owned the room. “You’re too naïve… or perhaps too soft for a world built on cruelty, Miss Y/n. I don’t entirely blame you. Environment shapes perception, and we, unfortunately, come from very different worlds.”

He stood, the space between them shrinking as his words coiled around her like smoke. “In my world, nothing is ever free. Nothing is ever done without expectation. Even a favor comes wrapped in chains.”

The air between them thickened. She could feel it pressing on her chest. Still, she found her voice. “You’re twisting things. I just needed a break, not a—”

“You asked for a day off,” he interrupted smoothly, voice cool and unreadable. “And I offered you one. With a condition. I never said I was generous. I said I was fair.”

Y/n looked away, jaw clenched. Her breath stilled. It felt wrong. Manipulative.

Frustrated, she turned away, trying to hide the war inside her chest. What kind of game is he playing?

But then she heard it his voice, low and slow, slithering close behind her like a shadow.

“Don’t overthink it,” he whispered, the words brushing the shell of her ear. “Make your choice… quickly.”

She flinched. Not from fear. From how close he was. From how his presence ignited every nerve in her skin.

Y/n turned her head slightly. “You’re exploiting my situation. It’s cruel.”

A soft chuckle rumbled from his chest. “Cruel? No. Strategic.”

She met his gaze. And there it was that unreadable look. Calm. Poised. But hiding storms underneath.
