ConsequentlyMia sat at the breakfast table thinking about everything that had gone down last night and worried about school bullies who are all in her classes.
She now had two new siblings, Jesus and Mariana were fighting, and for some reason Mariana was now mad at her.
Hi Mia's thoughts were interrupted by her momma's voice.
"Jesus, the trash needs to go out, I shouldn't have to remind you," She said, stopping the boy as he was riding around the kitchen on his skateboard.
"I took it out yesterday!" Jesus defended.
"Well, it's full again," Lena argued, patting his shoulder, "And get off your skateboard, please."
He picked up his board and set it off to the side as he went to get the trash.
The room went silent again besides the hushed conversation going on between Jude and Callie, so Emilia went back to her thoughts about school.
Mia didn't know why the girls in her year were so horrible. Emilia never did anything to them. Mia never wanted her siblings, friends or moms, to find out.
One thing Emilia couldn't get off her mind was about one of the girls about a social worker talking about adopting special needs or disable children you get a lot more money that's why it's not for love they just need more money. That made Emilia did they adopt for helping her and love or just for money.
"Mia?" Lena set her hand on her daughter's right shoulder, "You okay?" She asked looking at her so Mia could hear in case her hearing aids were off.
"Yeah, just hungry," She lied, giving her mom a fake smile. Truth was Lena knew that was a fake smile, she wanted to know what's going on in her daughter's mind. Was it about the new children or was there something else.
As the two talked the back door opened and Stef and Brandon walked back into the kitchen. They had gone outside to discuss the events from the evening before.
"Where is Mariana?" Stef asked when she noticed her Latin daughter missing from the breakfast table.
"Uh, she's still in the bathroom," Callie answered.
"Mariana, come on! Let's go, babe!" Stef yelled, "You gotta eat!"
"Callie, can you get the juice out for everybody?" Lena asked as she grabbed plates for the family's breakfast. "Yeah," Callie answered, getting up from her chair.
"I didn't have time to do my hair," Mariana complained, walking into the room.
"Well, it's too late now, sweets," Stef said as she poured herself a cup of coffee.
"We still have fifteen minutes," Mariana argued.
"No, no, no, you guys have to walk to school today, we have a thing," Stef explained, watching Jesus start riding his skateboard again.
"Okay, I am not going to school with my hair like this," Mariana said, pointing to her damp wet hair from the shower she had just taken.
"Well, then you're not going anywhere, ever again," Stef smiled as Mariana rolled her eyes.
"Stef, your pancakes are burning," Lena interrupted the conversation.
"Great, I get to spend all day looking like a Lhasa Apso." Mariana continued to moan as she sat down next to Mia at the table.
Jesus waved a piece of bacon in front of his twin sister's face, "You want a treat? Good girl," he teased, earning a smack on the shoulder from Lena.
