Chapter Eight: I, Robot... You, Jane

Cortona, Italy, 1418

Carlo stands by the window and looks to his master.

"Carlo, caro mio." (Carlo, my dear one.) A deep voice calls to him. Carlo walks deep into the room and kneels in front of the demon, Moloch. "Mi ami? Ti darò tutto. Tutto quello che desidero è il tuo amore." (Do you love me? I can give you everything. All I want is your love.)

"Tu hai il mio amore." (You have my love.) Carlo says.

The demon growls before grabbing the man's head and twisting it, snapping his neck.

Inside a church, a priest, Thelonius speaks to the torch bearing monks. "E fuori. E il diavolo, Molocco. E fuori nel mondo, facendo tante cose male. Abbiamo bisogno di fare il circolo." (It is Moloch. The Corrupter. He walks again. More and more people have fallen under his mesmerizing power. There is still time to bind him. We must form the circle.) He explains, opening a large blank book. "Per potere di questo circolo di Kahless..." (By the power of the circle of Kahless...)

Moloch smiles as Carlo's body falls to the floor. Suddenly he looks up and frowns as he sense that something is wrong. "No!"

"Per potere di questo circolo di Kayless, ti commando! Vieni!" (By the power of the circle of Kayless, I command you! Come!) Thelonius chants.

Moloch screams in rage.

"Ti commando! Vieni!" (I command you! Come!)

Moloch continues to scream.

"VIENI!" (COME!)

Moloch screams as he bursts into millions of pieces.

Tiny particles fly through the air and into the book. Thelonius slams it closed once it's done. He walks over to the table and places the book into a thick wooden box. "Preghiamo che questo libro è mai letto più..." (Pray that this accursed book is never again read.) He puts the lid on. "Che il demonio Molocco è mai lasciato più fuori nel mondo." (Lest the Demon Moloch be loosed upon the world.)

Centuries later the lid is lifted off the box. Buffy looks in. "Oh, great! A book!" She says sarcastically. She looks around the library as a few students, as well as Ms. Calendar help scan books for the new computerized catalogue. She pulls the book out of the box and blows some of the dust off of it.

Giles looks up from the book in his hand. "Oh, uh, I, uh...haven't gone through the new arrivals. Uh, put it in, uh..." He motions towards a table. "In, in that pile."

"Here, I'll get it." Dave says, standing up from his computer seat.

"Oh, thanks, Dave. The Willow pile." Buffy says with an appreciative smile. Dave takes the book from Buffy and goes over to the pile of books next to Willow. Trinity happens to be setting several books over by Willow as well. Dave begins to violently sneeze.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Willow asks, concern in her voice.

Dave sneezes again. "My allergies are acting up." He manages to get out before sneezing once again. "I don't understand it though." He says before sneezing again. "Is there a cat in here?" He asks, sneezing once more.
