They head off the elevator and walk to the room. Xie Yuchen throws his bag onto the bed. "How fancy is this place we are going?" he asks. He was wearing a large sweater, with jeans and sneakers. Hei Yan Jing was wearing ripped jeans, converse and a t- shirt under a leather jacket.
"How about this", Hei Yan Jing starts. "We take time to get ready and then we go out for dinner?"
"Dinner?" Xie Yuchen asks. He turns around and looks at Hei Yan Jing with wide eyes. "Where?".
"We can go where I work", Hei Yan Jing explains, he removes his shoes and places them in his closet. "I get a discount, so while the prices are expensive it won't be too bad for me".
"Hei Yan Jing, I can pay for dinner", Xie Yuchen explains. "I am rich".
Hei Yan Jing waves his hand at him. "Listen, I asked you out, so I should be the one to pay". Xie Yuchen freezes when he hears the language that Hei Yan Jing uses. Asked him out?
"Just wear a nice shirt and slacks", Hei Yan Jing explains. "You should be fine, let me call for a table".
Xie Yuchen looks at him as the older man exits the room to make the call. Nice shirt? Slacks? Fancy restaurant? Was this an actual date?
Hei Yan Jing comes back into the room with a smile on his face. "Got us a room!" he exclaims. "I am going to shower now before dinner". He grabs his towel and some clothes before heading into the bathroom. Xie Yuchen is still standing there in the center of the room confused. He calls Huo Xiu Xiu and struts out of the room to a small patio at the end of the hallway. People usually used it to smoke but he liked it for its privacy.
"Why are you calling me?" she asks. "I have class soon".
"I think I am going on a date tonight", he whispers into the phone.
"With who?" she screams into the phone.
"My goddam ears", he says. "Take a guess".
"Oh my god", she says. "Please don't tell me".
"Just say it", Xie Yuchen says. He groans and places his head in his hands.
"Hei Yan Jing", she whispers into the phone.
"Ding ding ding, you are correct", Xie Yuchen says. "He said I have been stressed so he wants to take me to a nice place for dinner". Huo Xiu Xiu screams in his ear and he moves the phone away from his ear. He sighs and puts it back when the screaming subsides. "Yes ma'am?"
"Is it a date?" she asks again. He is about to answer but the door opens and a hand appears on his waist. He turns around and Hei Yan Jing is standing there with a worried expression.
"Oh you are on the phone", he says.. "I thought you were crying". Xie Yuchen blinks at him and smiles. He shares the screen to show that he is on the phone with Huo Xiu Xiu. Hei Yan Jing smiles and presses the button for the speaker on the screen.
"Hey Huo Xiu Xiu, howya doing?" he says.
Her voice comes from the screen "HELLO! I am doing good, I need to head to class soon. I wanted to ask Xie Yuchen about the rest of his birthday".
"Oh I think he had a good day", Hei Yan Jing says. He leans his head on Xie Yuchen's shoulder so he is closer to the phone and he closes his eyes. "I got him a birthday cake, made him make a wish and got him a gift", he says in a singsong voice.
Xie Yuchen smiles and he is lucky that neither of them can see his face.
"Oh he didn't tell me that, but he was telling me about the dinner tonight", she says,
