Blood thick with Woe

Morticia Frump grew up in Salem with her mother, father, and older sister Ophelia. When grandfather frump heard of Nevermore, he knew he wanted to send his fresh new born daughter there when she was of age and so he helped build up the school in preparation.

"Addams don't hug," I replied, not willing to take another step closer to her.

She shook her head, "Have you seen your father? Biggest hugger I know."

"Fine, this Addams doesn't hug," I retorted.

Ophelia clasped her hands together, "I suppose I can't even coax a hug out of you after five years."

"Make it 50 and we will see." I sat down in the same spot from last semester without thinking much about it. Xavier slid in beside me without looking at me.

Bianca raised her hand, "You look like a normie."

"You don't have to be an outcast to be different, miss Bianca." Ophelia reached out and placed her hand on Bianca's shoulders. Her eyes went white. She pulled away and her eyes dimmed back to the brown. "What is morning song?"

Bianca pulled back, "Nothing," she answered sharply.

"You can control your visions?" I let my curiosity seep into my tone unguarded.

She winked, "It isn't as mystical as your mother chooses to portray it." She turned to the class. "Alright, every one. Make your way to your seats. We've got a lot to catch up on."

Xavier doodled in his notes, paying little attention to the teacher. I side eyed him but he moved his shoulder so I couldn't see it.

"Miss Frump, are you named after the Hall dorms?" A student asked.

She put the plant she was holding down. "Of course not. It was named after me." She didn't elaborate further and instead turned back to the beginning lesson.

Enid found me at lunch. She was all stirred up from her lycanthropy studies, spilling facts into my ears. Thing sat on the grass with us, building a tower with our food. "Ajax told me about your fencing class," Enid blurted.

"You don't have a class together after fencing," I answered.

She waved her phone. "We texted. I don't think it was very kind to put him in that position."

"Not kind? Me?" Sarcasm dripped from my lips. "Beside I was helping him win for the first time."

Enid folded her arms, "Have you considered that winning isn't everything?"

"Thats what losers say to console themselves. I personally don't lose." I picked up the piece of bread and took a bite. Dry.

Enid stood up, "Sometimes you can be so hard to talk to." She picked up her plate and started walking off. Thing stared me down.

"Wait, Enid come back," I called and she paused. "Next time, I'll let your boy toy lose."

"See that wasn't so hard!" She smiled and sat back down. The tree over us kept us in plenty of shade. "I think I'm going to be inducted into the Nightshades tonight. Ajax said he had a surprise for me and Yoko winked at Divina." It was probably true. After they had kicked out Rowan, a spot needed to be filled. And I turned it down. I don't do social clubs.

I stood up, "It is time to go back to class." I inclined my head toward Enid for a moment before walking off. Thing followed me.

The Dungeon of Nevermore wasn't in constant use unfortunately. When they chose to expose students to monsters, they would keep them in there until sending them back. The outcast anatomy class was held down there by a teacher that resembled a troll. He shuffled around with a bloody apron.
